If you're in the lounge tonight, check in here and say why you're here tonight...
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 12:22 AM by Breeze54
I'm here because I have been driving in and out of Boston for the last two days and had the option
to go to a party 65-70 miles away and I opted out because I hate being in cars and on the highway
at night and even though it sounded like a lot of fun, it also sounded like a party that was 'really'
for the younger crew. Not an old fart like me (relative to their ages) so I said, "Go! Be free! Have fun!!" :P
I'll take some quiet time. That's enough excitement for 2 days for me. I have the house to myself tonight
and I'm loving it. What a relief! ;) Oh, and the great company the loungers provide and the laughs! :P

How can they make you work in less than 7 hours?

Isn't that against the law?

Don't people need a 12 hour break at least? Yikes!!

I feel for you, I do.

3. My dear Breeze54!
Present and accounted for!

I'm here because this is the time of day that I'm nearly always here...

It's an old habit, dating back to the summer of 2005...

I had some really good friends who were here at this time too, and we always talked together and followed each other around in our threads...

It was a happy time, and I'm nostalgic for it...

Even though it's over now, and will never repeat itself...

And then when I did my term as a Moderator, this was the time that I had to be here...

There weren't many (or really, any) Lounge Mods on at this time of day, and my presence was sorely needed...

So those are the reasons you'll see me here most reliably...

:hi:

 But I miss those times too. It's changed here, I think too. :(

It used to be more like 'family' here... all for one and one for all and all that.

I'm glad you checked in, baby! ;)

16. Actually there are like a dozen here in my brother's house
It's totally freaky to me. Giant one in the living room (where I am), one in each of three bedrooms, and I think there are a few hiding in the closets or something. I'm so not used to that--we only have one back home, by choice. As for right now, my son is sleeping in the room I'm sharing with him, and I feel compelled to have "family time" with the crew we're visiting. So here I sit, getting all nauseated by the dramatized true crime stories.
:puke:

Only 10 minutes left...

30. We've only been here two days
I strongly suspect we're going to hit family burnout pretty soon, however. Too much togetherness and all that.

Okay, now my mother's bailed out, and my brother griped about being forced to watch America's Most Wanted, but he just put on ANOTHER true crime show. O the irony...

I love my family...I love my family...truly I do...

I sound terrible as I haven't seen my oldest in two years but we've talked a lot on the phone
but but there's only so much new stuff to talk about and after they finished the movie, he
kidnapped my youngest until tomorrow sometime and I was happy they all took off! :P Besides,
they're on vacation and they need to go make their own memories without me hanging around. ;)

And also, because a romantic interest I went out with one time had a murder in her family after our first date, and all shit went loose after that.

So, I felt the proper thing for me to do was to back off completely, and give her some space. It's difficult, but it feels like the right thing to do for now.

Oh! She just sent me an email!

I am not a city driver, especially in Beantown and all the one way streets and driving in circles and through tunnels and yesterday it took me TWO hours to get back home from Beantown (25 miles at 30 MPH!) :grr: with a clutch to boot! I mean, what's left of my clutch and then today, they needed me to get them from the hotel and take them to Hertz and I had to take my teen sons 'beater car (OMG!) and the GPS had me going in circles on the freeway, on and off and back and forth, instead of on surface streets! ARGH! I finally turned it off, followed my instincts and found the damn place! :P I needed a break too. Being a "gracious host" went out the window when I started swearing on the freeway!

73. Pretty much.
BabyG and his best friend dismantled one of them (the rubber band balls) to have a rubber band fight the other night (staying at my house is the hot ticket in town because I allow this goofy stuff now) and it killed me to think of all the hours I put into it. And then I realized that was a bit much. :)

My cable, phone, and ISP gets shut down on Monday.

See ya'll on the other side. I'd buy a round, but I'm tapped out, so I'm only able to barter with the bartender. What'll you have? A bread machine; how about a 1960s RCA hi-fi with vinyl turntable and reel-to-reel tape player, all working in not-that-gently used genuine laminate credenza cabinet?

So, I ask: What will it take to buy a round for my friends?

97. Ah, you have to love Europe and its non-AC loving ways...
I remember, in France, during the summer holiday of late July-August, the stores that were actually open would lure people in with signs in the window that said "We have AC!"

Silly tourists.

Note: Iirc, my hotel for the last week and 1/2 did have AC. My studio for the first few weeks had none. I was fine either way.

Alhtough there's nothing better than being on the 7th floor in the Latin Quartier, sleeping with your windows open, and getting completely rained on, in bed, at 4 a.m. Seriously. :P

I hope you get some rest soon....

Try candles and a warm bath and shut down all electroics (TV included) an hour before you have to go to bed. Create a routine and that will tell your body that it's time to shut down. Good luck with it.... have sweet smells too. ;)

112. I've been an insomniac for basically forever.
All the regularly recommended things just don't work for me. My brain just won't shut off. I've tried the dim lights/meditation/quiet time before bedtime - that is actually worse since I just come up with more ideas to churn around.

Before my knees went bad, physical work all day would wear me out enough to sleep good. But now I cannot do that anymore so I have the double whammy of not physically tired and pain from my joints. Add to that, recurring sinus problems and allergies so sometimes I cannot sleep lying down.

I have been getting more hours of sleep in my recliner than in bed in the last week. Whatever it takes!

I did get six hours of sleep last night - pretty good for me.

Now I don't have a recliner, :( but I do have AC in my room and that helps! ;)

114. Yes, I was getting really nuts with little or no sleep
I wish I could figure out what starts these insomnia bouts. I can go for a month or two sleeping fairly well then will have a night I can't sleep and it escalates until I am too tired to go to sleep. I even took some Tylenol 3 the other night and it did no good.

I worked hard today - DH picked some apples and I made apple pie filling to freeze and one pie to eat. Maybe I will sleep tonight!

I couldn't imagine not having AC - but I am in Florida. Though I did grow up with no AC in our house or in school. Church and stores were the only places that had it when I was a kid. No wonder we're burning more energy!

the car daily, (just a small dust buster) and I ran water over my car to wash it all off and away from me. It seemed to help a lot but; I feel your pain. My allergies usually hit in the late summer and early fall and ragweed is in abundance. If I get any on my fingers, and then wipe my eye; I'm doomed!! :)
