What are your summer vacation plans?
I took my vacation in May (and if you're interested, pictures from it are here). So what are your vacation plans?

2. You're looking at them....
Actually, we will probably spend a week at our cabin in Northern WI, I might go to see my brother in New Jersey and assorted local day trips with the kidlets. But next summer I go to Ireland! Graduation present (probably the only reason I am finally going to take gym and statistics so I can get the hell out of school!)

3. I might (emphasis on might) be taking a trip east later on...
But my plans, such as they are, are pretty nebulous now...

I'd like to go...

Time will tell...

7. My dear Inchworm!
I'm thinking more of the midwest and northeast, sorry, sweetie...

But my plans aren't firm at all, for the moment...

I want to see the fall colors...

Seven Falls, Royal Gorge, Mesa Verde, Maroon Bells and Durango are all good. My sister moved from Los Angeles to Estes Park, Colorado last year.

6. We are leaving on Wednesday for Las Vegas. From there, on the same
day, we take a rental and drive into Los Angeles to see and spend time with both of my brothers and their families. We will come back to Vegas and spend one night before returning home. That's about it.

9. Vaca, Day 2: All family still alive by grace of gods. Am thinking of raiding my son's cookie stash.
The pale MG clan from Back East says "Greetings from Southern California! It's friggin' HOT! Day-um!"

Despite some minor tiffs and way too much HGTV watching, visitors MG, MG's mom, and MG Jr. are still alive, as are hosts MG's brother, SIL, and niece. Two days down, 10 to go. Wish us luck!

18. That heat wave last weekend was an anomaly for June.
Typically June in coastal California is cool, gray and completely overcast (the infamous "June Gloom," which I actually prefer instead of heat). This year for some reason we have had very few of the May Gray/June Gloom days, and four heat waves in the spring, all of which happened on weekends. Weird.

20. I can't seem to shake my East Coast view of summer
I keep an ear cocked at all times for an incoming thunderstorm, especially at night, when I can't remind myself where we are by looking at the clear sky. :eyes:

11. Long story.........
We are parceling ours out.

Cahpter 1: We just went to Prague last weekend (Friday-Sunday).

Chapter 2: in 2 weeks, we'll run up to Bergen, Norway
to spend the weekend with my sister and her husband,
who will stop there on the way to their vacation in
the fjords somewhere.

Chapter 3: I go to the USA to hang for a day with a
comic book legend, and then back home to Texas for
personal stuff for a few days. Then up to the Washington
area for work, and THEN........

Chapter 4: up near the tip of Cape Cod with my wife for
three weeks of absolutely NOTHING. My wife returns to Germany
directly from there.

Chapter 5: probably over to Denver for the convention, back
to Dallas, back to D.C., up to NY to see my daughters and
then back over here to Central Europe.

A friend of mine from the States is coming here to house sit
while we are away, as he considers here to be a vacation, but
with the dollar in the shithouse, he can't afford much more
than the air fare.

15. Yeah, and enough frequent flyer miles for Mars and back, business class!
At least the 3 weeks on the Cape will be relaxing. The rest of it is the usual torture.

14. Five nights in a condo at Wrightsville Beach, NC. We're remodeling
the house we bought in May (to replace the one that burned down last summer)and hope it will be done by mid-Sept when we have to be out of this rental. Don't want to be away too long from supervising construction, so our 21 yo son gets the 6th and 7th nights at the condo (one week minimum rental).

That's it for vacation until after we've moved. Maybe a long weekend with girlfriends in October; maybe a trip to Panama with hubby in November to stay in our new place down there.

23. Going to Las Vegas two weeks from tomorrow.
My best friend and I are going down there to spend three days in the desert to enjoy the sights and sounds of Sin City.

I have a total of 9 days off in a row starting two weeks from this weekend. Before Vegas, I'm hanging out at home and relaxing, and after Vegas I'll be doing the exact same thing.

28. LA-Chicago-NY - 10 day trip
Boyfriend and I will leave Aug 21 from RDU to LAX by plane and will spend 4 days in LA. We will have a rental car; we'll definitely go to the Santa Monica Pier and possibly visit my sister in Orange County. On day 4, we leave by Amtrak headed to New York City through Chicago. We will spend 3 days in New York and then leave by Amtrak to head to Raleigh on Aug 31 and then we will drive about 2 1/2 hours home (we live in southeastern NC by the beach).

We call this our North by Northwest trip in reverse or our "Planes, trains and automobiles" trip. We are very excited!
