I was looking at the URL of various soccer players' girlfriends...most were the same few girlfriends, so I'm glad the young innocent players, like Torres and Casillas, haven't gotten caught up in that cheesy phony fanfare. In fact, very few Spanish girlfriends were featured...mostly English and German. I liked the Spanish team for its relative anonymity and for coming-out-of-nowhere.

Which brings me to Victoria Beckham. If that's how you have to look to "compete" in that special league-all-its-own, I have to wonder, "Is it worth it?" The pretense would kill me.

19. I was bummed but mentally prepared.

Ballack got hurt training on Friday, then pumped full of steroids so he could play. Even though I wore my lucky yellow Chucks (w/black laces and red socks), having seen Spain's previous performances... DAMN, they're GOOD!!! Once they scored first, I could hear the fat lady warming up on solfegio.

Spain's coach is quite an old fella (the oldest in the league I think) so I was THRILLED for him! Torres is cute as a button and a hot dog. There was a shot of him after his miss where I could just "hear" him saying to Lehmann, DUDE, I GOT YOUR NUMBER. From what I saw, he indeed did!!!
The best team won. To beat Spain da Boyz need to look at their ball control and, verdammt nochmal, RUN!!!

Lehmann has nice eyes. He's been under pressure to give up his position to a younger player. He was so disappointed last night. That was hard to watch.

Did you see the coach jumping up and down with the team? :bounce: The Spanish players controlled the ball so well, they made it look easy.

Now that Spain is on the world's soccer map, and noted for its "hot" players, I think the soccer culture will become more popular than ever, and more wide-spread.

On my 55th b'day recently I was in France celebrating at a village winefest. Two French male teachers, in their 30s, joined us, the wine was free, and one of the teachers, dark mezmerizing eyes, hair pulled back in ponytail, kept bringing the four of us another bottle of great wine to drink, lots of good conversation about travels, and he kept giving me "the eyes," smiling. I was getting drunk and trying not to get overly involved in that kind of exchange--because my friend was there--but I'll have to say, it was a goooooood birthday! :)
