1000 Airplanes on the Roof - anyone see it? Hear it? Know it? |
|
I was lucky to have seen a performance of it (I saw it with the man performing). Very cool show it was. Saw it in Ann Arbor.
I just pulled out the CD, which I haven't listened to for, I bet, 5 years or more. It is pretty good! I'm glad I pulled it out.
I was disappointed when I bought the CD that not only does it not have the sung portions, other than the wordless singing performed excellenty by Ronstadt, but that the CD insert doesn't even include the libretto. I asked Glass a few years ago if he'll ever release a version of the opera with the words, and he wasn't sure if they'd ever be able to, due to some contractual legal mumbo jumbo thing.
Still, great music.
