When and how did you learn about the "Birds and the Bees"?

My mom gave me very detailed and scientific lesson about the time I was ten years old.

5. I was about 5 or 6 years old

I was playing with my cars in the dirt and I was making roads and a tunnel. I was jamming a stick into the hole and my neighbors started laughing. They were in the fifth grade or so (twin brothers) and when I asked what they were laughing at they told me. They sort of explained it to me so at least I knew what the deal was.

They also taught me a little "tune" that went something like "Motherfucker sister brother daddy's in jail. Mama's on the corner yelling "pussy for sale!".

I don't know if I would cal that "the birds and bees", but I sure as hell knew more about things like that than many of my friends for a while..lol

4. My Mom

told me all of this nonsense and made it sound so clinical that I asked her, "Do you have to go to the hospital to do that?" I was about 10 also.
After that I told her that some of the other kids were reading a book about it and she bought it for me. That's when I understood it.

I found a copy in our house when I was about 10. I knew where babies came from, I just didn't know how they got there.

I remember being very grossed out.

It's just one of those things I 'knew' in elementary school, then learned a bit more about once the girls around me started developing and the internet came to be. :P

10. Since I was the younger of 2

we had some explanation books for kids around that were originally for my sister when my mom was pregnant with me. I think it was "Where did I come from?" I think I first read it about 7 or so. Most of my friends had an idea about it by then too.

The funny thing was there was the cartoon drawing of the couple in bed and I thought you put it in and just laid there. I was surprised later to learn that there was some movement involved. I actually argued with a friend about it in elementary school. "That book didn't say they were moving!" :rofl:

My parents never gave me or my 3 siblings "the talk." To this day they get embarrassed when we watching movies with sex scenes. (I turn 21 in October)

12. Health class in school

before that, I had no idea. We never talked about such things at home.

I think having this in health class is important. My girlfriend had no idea what was happening when her boyfriend at the time took advantage of her back when she was in high school. That was a bad experience for her and she was wary of sex for quite some time after that.

collection when I was 13. I found out when I was 20 that it was really my mothers.

Read a lot of papers about eusocial insects and sexual selection and other topics relative to birds.

15. The school sent home a note saying there was this assembly coming up for 4th graders.
