Movie/TV character riddle - can you answer?

I took my kids to a theater today which had silhouettes of well-known (mostly) characters from the movies/TV painted on the side of the building. We studied four in particular:

-Luke/Darth Vader from "Star Wars" amidst a light saber battle

-Shaggy and Scooby from "Scooby Doo" standing side by side

-Sully and Mike from "Monsters Inc."

The last one we couldn't figure out for the life of us. It was a grownup-sized figure with a pointy hat and pointy elf shoes walking along, with two child-sized figures dressed exactly the same walking behind him.

At first I thought maybe it was Aragorn and Sam/Frodo from the Lord of the Rings but I don't remember Aragorn wearing pointy shoes and certainly the hobbits wore no shoes at all.

Any ideas on the last one? I've been turning it over in my head for nine hours! :-)
