Worst Series Finale?
My vote goes to Hawaii 5-0's "Woe to Wo Fat." How a series so awesome became so, so awful is beyond me. In this episode, McGarrett puts on a wig and fake beard and affects the speech of someone with a damaged larynx in order to pass himself off as a physicist so he can sneak onto Wo Fat's secret island. Wo Fat has been kidnapping scientists, drugging them, and fooling them into working on some predictably evil MacGuffin. The acting, dialog, and plot are all awful. Wo Fat eventually figures out McGarrett is not the scientist (it takes him forever, which is hilarious since he's been battling McGarrett since the series began), McGarrett escapes, destroys Wo Fat's laboratory, and manages to defeat Wo Fat's army by himself. McGarrett eventually fights and defeats Wo Fat in the jungle. At the end of the episode, we see Wo Fat in prison, pulling a file out of his shoe. Yeah, a file. I'm surprised it didn't come in a birthday cake. Maybe he'll make a gun out of soap, too.

What say you?

1. "Seinfeld" was abominable.
Though, "Seinfeld" was already in serious decline for its last couple of years.

36. I thught the Seinfeld finale was perfect.
They were a bunch of assholes, and they finally ran into a community where that was illegal, and they got arrested and jailed for it.

Perfect.

42. It was okay.
Not the best the series had to offer, but it was good enough. I think some people expected more, like if Jerry and Elaine were to declare their undying love for each other and frolic off into the sunset. That wouldn't be Seinfeld. That would be Friends.

43. I thought the same thing!
It was a great finale. As funny as the characters were, they were ultimately four rather horrible people, and they finally got what was coming to them. Even in the parting shot with them in jail, they go on with their self-absorbed bickering.

3. Las Vegas
Although, technically it was canceled. Even at that though, they could have tied up a lot of loose ends. They left three weddings, a woman in labor, the future of a casino, and the miraculous survival of a main character after a plane crash unresolved. It was ridiculous. They could have at least given it one more episode to clean up the series ending, but they didn't.

A cliffhanger that has no chance of ever being resolved. Thanks NBC!

5. Actually, the finale to Shark was terrible.
Great villain, great protagonist, stupid kidnapping of daughter, no suspense whatsoever.

6. I didn't even realized that one got canceled.
I was only disappointed in two series getting the axe this year: "Moonlight," which was awesome and bad at the same time; and "Aliens in America," which was extremely funny and pointed.

8. It was, and it sort of did me a favor.
The nicest thing you can do for me if you're canceling a show I like is to uncork an utterly shitty finale.

Shark had my back on that one.

7. I'll add that "Veronica Mars" is up there for me as well.
Another cliffhanger-style ending for a series that was at death's door from the beginning.

Of course, hardly anyone watched the show (which was brilliant) so I suppose it wasn't that much of a disappointment.

20. It's over already?
I had been meaning to watch it, because they filmed a couple of scenes for it at the coffee house I go to a lot here in San Diego. I still haven't even watched one episode of it yet, and now I find out that the series is all over with!

23. Quantum Leap
I think it was canceled, wasn't it? The finale seemed so "thrown together", with Sam encountering only a few of the people he'd helped, like they didn't have enough time or money to bring in the dozens of people who should have been there. I remember going in to work the next day, and the two other QL fans and I just stared at each other and said, "So what the hell happened?" Was Sam dead? Had he always been dead? Was he out there in the ether, continuing to leap around without any hope of coming back? It was nice that he sacrificed himself to make his friend's life better, though.

The X-Files, although that whole last season was crap. And Seinfeld, definitely.

25. Did Hawaii Five-0 have an actual finale proper?
I recall Jack Lord wanted to retire (and CBS would have run the damn show until he died because they loved Hawaii so much, and that's how Magnum P.I. came about as well as moving Jake and the Fatman out there later.), but was the episode billed as a series finale?

I thought the Charlie's Angels finale sucked. Kelly gets shot in the head, which was done in season one. Then they show clips. Awful.

26. I'm considering it an ending.
Wo Fat was going to go to prison for a long time, at least in theory. That qualifies it as a proper ending in my book.

27. The 4400
Come on... they had a years warning that they were being cancelled and there's absolutely no hint that it's the end of the show until a tacked on "here's what happened for the rest of time to the 30+ characters we've introduced cut into a two minute montage". They don't solve anything... there's just a crappy explanation from Ira Behr that "It was never going to end." Bullpucky... you guys just couldn't be bothered so you dropped the whole show like a hot potato in a way that makes no sense based on the previous story line.

The ending of Firefly was crap too... but that was less obviously the writers' fault.

29. The series finale to "Will and Grace" was seriously disappointing.
I wanted all of the characters to be killed off in a hail of gunfire...I was thinking they could have gotten Quentin Tarentino to direct that final episode. Sadly, no such luck. Will, Grace, Jack and Karen all lived. :-(
