this is one big fucking mouse I've got here
My little mouse bastard that I discovered living in my house last night isn't that little at all - he's a big fucker. I don't even know if he'd fit in the normal sized live mouse trap. I've seen him several times tonight, and he doesn't seem to like me very much, but seems to think he can sneak by me - no chance, buddy! arghh!! Well, at least I think I found where he's coming in, but there seem to be lots of cracks he can fit through there (it's an old house). He's tried to get down stairs, but I want to stop that.

God damn it. I don't want mice in my house. This sucks.

1. Two choices:
Get a bigger mouse trap, or get a saddle. :D

You really need to borrow a cat.

6. it's not a rat
size-wise it's like a small rat, but it has a mousy sort of figure and face - when it tries to scamper by, I look at it, and it looks at me, and if it doesn't run then, I yell at it.

umm...

I'm a little bit afraid that in my chasing of it, I may have crushed it with the fridge - I hope not. :( I hope I just scared it, and that's why it hasn't popped it's head out from behind there in the last 1/2 hour or so.

4. We have giant voles and rats. Does he have big ears or tiny ones?
Big ears=rat. Tiny ears=giant vole. Cat brought one in to me the other day, dropped in proudly in front of me (giant vole). Nice fur, eats and poops lots, or did before the cat got it.

9. no... it's just a giant fucking mouse
I've never really seen a mouse in this country before (England - I just moved here last year), except for once outside. Maybe they're just bigger here?

15. Ohhhhhh, an English mouse. Those are different, really big, nasty, wait until you are asleep before
sticking their whiskers in your face and scampering off. Actually I thought English Mice talked too. Wind in the Willows and all?

13. not a shrew
if it were a shrew I'd at least be fascinated. Now I'm just pissed. I'm especially pissed because I just moved in here, and I mentioned the mouse the landlord today, and he said that he'd never seen one in here, but the hole in the wall I found today makes me know they've been here for longer than I have.

17. To Homebase with you!

To capture them and then release in the wild:
http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=20001&partNumber=121448&Trail=searchtext>MOUSE

To stop them from coming in the house:
http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=20001&partNumber=792765&Trail=searchtext>MOUSE

Then there are the old fashioned traps... if you want them of course.

If cats aren't to your liking then Siberian Huskys make good mousers. We had a house where we were visited by field mice frequently. We had a cat (Target - cos it had the shape of a bullseye on its side - Target ran away though), and we had a dog - Shadow, our Siberian Husky. Shadow caught more mice than Target did. But what was more effective was those mice cubes... until Shadow found them... she loves peanut butter and crunched them up to get at the peanut butter, sometimes with mouse in, sometimes without.

Mark.

18. cool, thanks for the tips
I didn't even know about homebase, but there's one in my town - and they're open 'til 10! I would love to get a cat or a dog, but a travel too much... gone to London for a few days this week and next, and then to the US for a month. Ugh... maybe if the mice aren't gone before I go away for a long time, I'll poison them, with hopes that the smell will have gone away by the time I'm back, but I'd really rather not kill anything. I don't want to use the normal mouse traps for that reason, but I'm even more worried that they wouldn't kill the little guy and then I'd be dealing with this crippled mouse.

19. Sounds like a vole actually
Voles are bigger and they look like mice..
BTW, can you borrow used kitty litter from someone? Seriously..If they smell cat..they might be more reluctant to enter your house...
btw..does this look like your intruder?

24. You obviously need a cat. A big one. Go to your local animal shelter and pick out a big,
mean-looking tomcat.
