Sheesh! I got a ticket. Seems so unfair - but what can you do? |
|
Man, the police are out everywhere this morning. And I don't mind them keeping the speed down on the freeways. People just get to going way too fast out there.
But, of course, my ticket wasn't fair. Well? I turned left at an intersection at 7:15 this morning. But you can't turn left at that intersection after 7:00 A>M>
Shit.

I've turned a few times at very close to the beginning/end of no turn left times in downtown Little Rock, but only at one place... a left turn there puts you right on the Arkansas River bridge over to North Little Rock in two blocks. IF there is no traffic I will do it. And I'm knocking on wood right now about my chances of getting pulled over doing it someday.
Of course, right now I have an excuse, as my DL shows I live in the northwest corner of the state now. "I'm sorry, I didn't know it was No Left Turn, I was trying to follow some directions and wasn't paying attention. How much will the ticket be?"

3. I was in a strange part of town so I was not familiar with the |
|
traffic lights. I was already turning when I saw the sign. No traffic coming either way. I just didn't realize that I couldn't turn left there.
Police were just sitting there waiting for people to turn left.
Sucky.,

2. Downtown Seattle has streets that are "Bus Only" in the morning and afternoon |
|
I love watching the cops lurk on the side streets to bust people who try to drive down 3rd Ave.

5. You really have to watch the school zones here.l They aren;t |
|
consistant. Some are just 25 miles an hour all day. Some are 25 mph between 7 and 9 and 2 and 4 - or something like that. It is really easy to miss those zones and those are really expensive tickets.

7. Tell MrsCoffee about it! She got her ass nailed to the wall... |
|
She got FOUR (4!!!) tickets in the same school zone in a two week period. The police department kept mailing us pictures of our car hauling ass down the street...it got to the point where we just had to laugh about it, it was so ridiculous.

11. We would lose our license here for 4 I think. |
|
Course everyone just drives without it so it doesn't do any good to take them away.

9. I remember one time I used the HOV lane to pass a car 5 minutes before it opened up |
|
The guy in front of me was going ridiculously slow, as was the guy in the lane to the right of me. It's 8:55 am, the lane opens up to all traffic at 9:00 am, I figure what's the harm and do a quick pass and then back into my lane.
Well, along appears flashing lights and I pull over. The cop comes up to me, I give him my license, and he asks why I got pulled over. As a person who does believe honesty is the best policy, I go ahead and tell him, "Well, I did use the HOV lane to pass the car in front of me."
The cop walks back to his car, and I figure I've got myself a ticket. He walks back and tells me, "I write people tickets when two things happen. First if your licenses is suspend. Second if you are an asshole to me. Your license isn't suspended and you weren't an asshole to me. Just do yourself a favor and stay out of the HOV lane when you shouldn't be there." I thank him and he walks back to his car and drives off.
I'm glad I didn't blow my lid then.

13. I never, ever get mouthy with police. |
|
This is a big city and the police are paranoid and can be really big trouble. I just do everything I can to stay completely out of their way.
