A type of salamander, I think.

People do keep them as pets, but regional laws may very. I remember a case several years ago where they took over some small lake in Canada, presumably from an exotic pet owner releasing a pair in the wild, for whatever reason. Not an easy feat to thrive in a Canadian lake for a tropical amphibian.
