7. They "bit the big one" by almost ANY measure. How the HELL can a company inherit
BELL LABS, for Chrissake, the most legendary "idea factory" there's EVER been, and detonate like Lucent did?

Fucking criminal incompetence, right there.

going nowhere fast. Bought more Apple with what was left of my Lucent stock. Wish I'd kept my Apple stock.

20. SavOn/Osco Drug stores used to have as their slogan,
"Count on People who Care," which was fine by itself, but on those little plastic things they put in a checkout lane when that lane is closed, the wording was:

THIS LANE CLOSED
Count on People Who Care

21. We had a Warehouse Drugs in our town. The outdoor sign used two
circuits. One controled "Wareho", the other controlled "use Drugs." One night they only turned on the second. So through the night, in big orange letters was the directive:

USE DRUGS

29. The colonel was actually a cool guy. He used to tweak the noses of the
business elite by pulling little stunts. He had a black driver of his white Rolls. He would sometimes show up at a function driving. He'd get out and open the door for the driver sitting in the back. Such things in the south raised some eyebrows. Him and his driver were actually good friends till the day Col Sanders died.

30. That's cool... speaking of signs,

in my neighborhood there is a neon sign that hangs over the main street, which says "Kensington." Sometimes parts of it are out, such as the time they took the sin out of Kensington. When I was a kid, there was a switch on the pole at one end. You could just turn it on and off with that switch. Some of the older boys (not me of course) used to stand there and flash it on and off quickly when a car came by. (One time when there was a lot of construction on that block, they took the temporary barriers and made a slalom course out of them, which unsuspecting cars went into - then encountered a dead end made up of the temporary barriers. None of this, of course, was done by me.

Sometimes in a heavy wind, it would spin madly.
