My ex-lover's dog was attacked this morning by a boxer

Please send good vibes Daisy's way. This dog is very special and I love her very much. I don't know people would keep a dog that would attack a human or other dog. Just doesn't make sense to me. I am giving my ex my last $100.00 to defray the vet bill..I hope it's enough

If that's the case, your ex has every reason...and right...to call in the law. I don't know of any community that doesn't have a leash law and penalties for allowing a dog to run loose. Top it off with the attack on a smaller dog.

Tell your ex to call the cops.

You DO need to go after the owner of the Boxer for the vet bills. One thing to keep in mind though is that if you go after them via the Police, depending on where you live, animal control may be brought in and the boxer may be forcibly euthanized.

My personal approach would be to point this out to the owner of the boxer, tell them that this is very likely the outcome if you have to involve the police. Do this in a polite manner.

A small claims lawsuit is another alternative, but may end with the same result if the Judge deems it necessary.

I feel sorry for Daisy, but I'd hate to see the boxer put down, especially if this was the first incident of the boxer behaving like that.
