I think I am officially through with GE appliances. |
|
I have a 16 month old refrigerator with freezer on the bottom and the freezer quit freezing. Had to call the GE repairman, who came out today and charged $300 to replace the mainboard (out of warranty for four months) and now several hours after he has left it is humming (new) and the freezer keeps getting warmer. So we will have to start over tomorrow. Also our GE washer is on the outs for the second time (have had it longer - maybe 6-7 years) and my husband has ordered the $105 part to fix it himself. I have a 21 year old Maytag dryer that has never had a moment's trouble, though I think they changed hands. Arrgh. Does nobody make anything that lasts anymore?

1. They all suck now, unless you go high end or euro import. |

2. We had the same issue with our washer. |

It is the biggest piece of shit I've ever seen. It was malfunctioning almost from the time it was plugged in. Almost everything you can name has busted on it during the past 10 years. Including the tub.
No more GE appliances. I've heard of planned obsolescence, but that should mean more than two weeks after you buy the damned thing.
