Why are some people so fucking evil? |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-08-08 05:24 PM by MrScorpio
Here's a woman who's richer than God, but yet she feels that she has to take time out of her "busy" schedule to spew hate by the barrel full. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3574678What the fuck is wrong with these people?

very often considered evil? (outside of the Clinton's that is).
In my case, my father is evil. Always has been, and always will be. I cannot understand it at all. Why is he this way? Why, when he could so some good, he would much rather do bad to people? Why would you want to go through life with people hating you instead of liking you? But that is the path he has chosen and it is sad. Sad for me cuz I never had a father's love. sad for my brother for the same reason. but not sad for him. He is going to die soon and no one will speak well of him at the end. And that was the choice he made a very long time ago.

2. Some People Think That Because They Are Wealthy At Other's Expense |
|
That they must be better than others.
Very misguided thinking.
In a capitalistic society, one gets wealthy only by stepping on the shoulders of others to get there. Therefore, gratitude should be what she feels that she has been afforded the opportunity to have that money and if she were not a total fucking ass, she would be generous with it and not flaunt it as though it were her God given birthright.

Here you have 50-Plus young women, most are I'm sure working from class backgrounds who are competing and, for the most part, want to be a positive force in this world.
But she took the time to post pictures of each one, all of them quite attractive of course, and proceeded to post nasty comment after nasty comment about each one.
It was sickening.

15. I think it might be the other way around |
|
People who think they are better than others think nothing of making a fortune at the expense of someone else. I.e., they got wealthy because they don't care at all about how their actions affect others. Sort of sociopathy that I associate with a lot of right-wingers whether they're wealthy or not.

I'm agnostic so what I say needs to be taken with that in mind. That said, the whole idea of "god bless you" (or worse "America") is that it seems to imply some sort of favored status. Like the people who recover from cancer because god blessed them. What does that mean about the ones who die of cancer? Does god hate them? I was raised catholic and evidently must have been in a really liberal parish because the Jesus I learned about was a total hippy. Catholics aren't known for reading the bible but the stories I remember support the Jesus as a hippy theory and he would have been shunned by these people and probably would have been disgusted by them anyway.

Mistaking herself for someone who matters, instead of being about as useless a dried snotrag. She reminds me of that 14th century Countess that was reputed to kill young serf women in order to bathe in their blood, or simply observe their suffering. These assholes will always be with us as long as untouchable wealth exists probably.

7. I didn't feel that she was evil |
|

Which is really weird for me because I tend to think that 99.9% of humans are pure unadulterated evil.
But I guess reading her blog made me think about how that's not really true - it's more that they just don't have the tools with which to do good.
Like she's obviously very conformist and not independent minded and can't see past the present and her social group or her ego. Does that make her evil? Certainly the results of it are evil. But (and this realization took, like, twenty years for me to arrive at) she's not doing it intentionally.
I tend to think that people pollute and destroy the planet because they want a lot of the life on it to die. Or that they vote Republican because they like it when people die of easily curable diseases because they don't have health insurance. Basically, I have always assumed that people were capable of seeing the probable consequences of their decisions and made those decisions because they wanted those consequences. And so I looked at the human species and assumed that most of it was unspeakably evil because everyone seemed to want all other life to suffer and die.
I did have some gray areas - like I realize that with our current infrastructure, most Americans do need a car. But still, even if it is a necessary evil why choose the huge gas hog unless you just really hate clean air and a healthy environment and people not getting killed for oil? And even more than that, why fight new infrastructure that would be better for us?
It took over a decade after finding the internet and reading posts and blogs and diaries and seeing what went on behind other people's eyes to realize that actually most of them have no idea of the evil that results from their decisions.
I really don't think that she knows what she's doing. She's just a cog in the death machine that is the human species.

10. Whatever you do, don't go to the AOL website. |
|
They have a news story up about a horrific double murder in the U.K. -- two students brutally slain. I don't need to tell you that the discussion board for that article contained the usual vicious, insensitive, and/or nutcase comments. One of the worst was from someone with a Republican avatar.
Anyway, you are right; people can be senselessly evil. Many of us deal with the banal sort on a near-daily basis.

Defines herself by her possessions and spending money.
Apparently isn't teaching her children to have compassion or consideration for anybody else.

She's wealthy and materialistic, sure. She also snarks about Miss America contestants. OK. She also seems to love her family, and appears to be a great mom. How does any of this translate to "evil?" I mean, have you ever hung out with people from her set? As far as the materialism goes, she's not any better or worse than anyone else with scads of disposable income.

22. That's the one thing I noticed on her blog |
|
"...and appears to be a great mom"
That's the one thing I noticed on her blog-- how much of it is dedicated to her children. The time, money and effort she devotes to them.
Anyways, I suppose that people living hand to mouth in Darfur or Bangladesh consider each one of us a consumptive, evil bastard for our frivolous, extravagant lifestyles-- wasting money on computer games, DVDs, vacations, taking the kids to Six Flags, etc.
I'd mentioned in the original thread that she seems more like Daisy Buchanan from Fitzgerald's 'The Great Gatsby'.
Indulgences, frivolity, wealth, extravagances-- it's *all* relative.
