Poll question: What's your favorite indulgence?
Do you treat yourself? If you don't, why not?

I like pedicures. I don't have them often, but I'll go without other non-essentials to get one. They're soothing.

1. Reading The National Enquirer while soaking in a bubble bath
and sipping Baileys on ice (while listening to the soundtrack from Camelot)....

2. Oooh! Now THIS is good.
I love the whole bubble bath and something to read thing, too. (I'm usually reading one of my friends' novels while I'm doing it!)

3. Boost.
Sure, I could just drive along like a sane person. 2.3 litres are more than enough to propel the normal Mazda3 to proper speed. Gas is $4+ a gallon, and I'd be wise to hypermile, or whatever that sort of thing is.

BUT, the lure of pushing the "go" pedal and getting 16psi of boost...

Hi, my name is flvegan, and I'm a Mazdaspeed junkie.

25. LOL, flvegan!
Did I tell you that we found vegan cookies at the smoothie place? Yeah, I'm addicted. It's one a week. I shouldn't even be eating cookies, but once in awhile, you have to give in.

We also started buying this guy's bread, which is the best we've ever eaten. http://www.daveskillerbread.com/flashy/indexflash.shtml

It's pedicures and excellent bread for me. ;-)

I guess mine could be

TORQUE, or maybe the sweet, sweet sound of 8 cylinders all turning in perfect rhythm at 8000+rpm...

Gas Prices are no cure for what ails me.

4. Sleeping in, staying in bed.
Edited on Tue Jul-08-08 10:25 PM by Drum
On those nice days I like waking up and falling back to sleep at least a few times. :)

Sometimes also, a taxi (instead of alternatives) for a NYCer can be an indulgence. Little treats are nice.

Do these maybe fall under "usual dingbattery?"

Lemon sorbet. Lemonade. More time on my bike to get rid of the damned pound cake.

19. I probably shouldn't admit to this
but I eat lemon sorbet for dinner when it's over eighty degrees here.

It's wonderful.

I'm going to have to buy a bike. ;-) :woohoo:

16. damn, making me choose between pedicure, bookstore and buying new clothes
AND massage?

damn

well, my massage is actually medically ordered so not really an indulgence
bookstores are just a totally routine thing I do
I do have to have new clothes since I lost a lot of weight

so I guess it is pedicures/manicures. Yep with hot stone massage..

so now I can go back and vote.

18. any time I can spend with girlfriends
The older I get, the harder it is for me to spend self time with friends. Nothing feels more indulgent than knowing that we're all getting away from work, kids and spouses to spend time together. Real time. Not through email or phone or during BBQ's, kiddie bday parties or holidays. Just us...and a few bottles of wine naturally. It's cheaper than therapy.

I can't say I have a whole lot of female friends, but I need the ones I have.

21. I got to spend forty-five minutes earlier this evening
chatting with Patiod, another DU'er. I am SO grateful to have such great friends! You're right -- I don't have a million female friends, but I'm so happy to have the ones I do. They make me laugh, they make me think, and every minute with them is a true indulgence.

23. It's the best, isn't it?
There's a place here that is moderately priced, scrupulously clean and does not allow tipping, so I spend my money there. Is there nothing nicer than someone pampering you for an hour or so?

28. Dawn is beautiful-- even on a suburban Texas apartment balcony.
I'm in the habit of waking up pretty early on Saturdays, usually just before the sun comes up in the summer months. One of my favorite, guilty indulgences is to have that very first cup of coffee and the very first cigarette on the balcony of my apartment and watch the world waking up around me.

It's early enough that I don't really have to worry about loud music blaring from cars and I get to hear the sparrows and pigeons doing their morning dances.

Dawn is beautiful-- even on a suburban Texas apartment balcony.
