It was during the dog days of the primary and the Reverend Wright story was being trolled around like it was the end of the fucking world. For a lot of Clinton fanatics, it was like Christmas - many Wright quotes were taken out of context and fauxrage was found.

Simultaneously, Elton John held a fundraiser for Clinton and he made some benign comment about sexism in America (which I whole heartedly agreed with). As if a signal was cast on a cloud, many snarky DU'ers used the opportunity to jump on old Elton in much the same way Wright was getting beat up. Much lulz was created as the tables had turned and those playing offense were now defending baseless attcks that made no sense.

Good times.
