Just back from the VA hospital, had to take my father for a doctor's visit.
I hate to go there, the traffic is terrible.

I am now in a very bad mood.

Get to go back in August for his minor surgery.

I need me a beer.

1. Cheers!

I did that yesterday also. I live in the town his appointments are in but he should not drive. I had to drive two hours pick my dad up, drive him back to where I live, drive him back home, then drive myself back home- 8 hours in a car back and forth- Long day and I could use a few pints myself-
Hope all goes well the VA is bleak a lot of the time.

3. Thanks forthe beer.
You had a lot of driving to do.

The VA hospital in Houston is huge, not enough parking, and my father gets lost in the place.

The VA here is so crowded.

I am a veteran but I hope I don't need to go there.

There are lot of Iraq veterans there, very young.

It is really a sad place to go.

I am trying to get my father to go to a private doctor, he has good insurance.

Why he wants to go to the VA hospital is beyond me.

:toast:

2. A lesson I learned with my Dad...I used to take him to many of
his hospital appointments. He had an irregular heartbeat. He was 88. I took him in on a Monday for an exam and by that next weekend he was gone. As much as those visits were a pain in the ass, looking back, they were precious. I know how you feel. Have that beer and be grateful that you had the time with the old man. :-)

4. What really makes me mad my sister said she would take him this time.
I will take him for the surgery but she was suppose to take him today.

She always does this.

My father was upset because she called at the last minute, and then he gets mad a me.

We have to get out there by 7 AM for a 10 AM appointment.

I haven't been to bed.

I am going to kick my Sister's ass.

5. yes
They have been fun in a way and I told him that- He is 82 and his memory is failing fast and it makes me sad to watch. All these appointments would be unnecessary had the original surgeon done the "simple 1/2 hour operation" two years ago correctly. He lost his hearing, paralyzed his face and eye. The surgeon was forced to retire.

6. The VA hospital almost killed my father.
He still wants to go there, I don't get it.

The surgery he will get is because of the VA hospital, wrong meds.

Now his heart is racing, and he should have the surgery a lot sooner but we are talking about the VA.

He gets upset easy now and until the surgery we need to keep him calm.

Now my sister calls him at the last minute, what was she thinking.
