During the various flashbacks to when all four were together you saw that Dru and Darla had a very relaxed flirty way of being together, and Angel and Spike, while favoring one of the two women, would still have sex with both. Just not at the same time. The girls never let them do that. :P (at least according to the flashback to Rome in the 5th season) And the sexual tension between Spike and Angel... you could cut it with a spork.

In one flashback, set shortly after Spike had been turned, Angel had sex with Dru just for the sole purpose of demonstrating to Spike that the human concepts of sex and sexuality just didn't apply anymore. Angel was with Darla, Spike was with Dru... but that didn't matter. Because they were vampires, not human.
