"Ghost Hunters International" Why? Why do they do that? **SPOILER**
They always seems to declare every place they go as haunted. Rattling dishes and a dubious photo which may simply have caused a case of matrixing and suddenly this place is haunted?? *sigh*

1. Not in Manchester
They investigated the Palace Theatre, which was supposedly haunted by an employee who hung himself in the rafters.

Turns out that not only is the place not haunted, but the guy who supposedly killed himself died at a ripe old age in a Florida retirement community!

2. the original Ghost Hunters is FAR better
They finally seem to have a great team with great chemistry together. Can't wait for them to return from their mid-season break.

9. Yeah. I prefer it as well. Nothing against the GHI people, but I like the original TAPS way of
debunking more.

10. I like the objectivity of the TAPS team...
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 12:02 PM by TCJ70
...not every place they went to was "haunted" and they did a pretty good job of trying to figure things out.

11. right, especially this season
most of the episodes this season they caught nothing of real interest. They even showed us the "fun-house" where the owners put in all that fake crap and failed to tell TAPS.

17. i kknow!
i give a lot of credit to Jason and Grant for not riping that chef a new one. I imagine that if they weren't being televised nationally, they would've left immediately after finding the speakers in the basement hallway. though not before laying into the management.

3. I think the British members want to follow in the tradition of "Most Haunted"
If you have not seen that show, it is a British made series with a psychic who gets possessed or channels in just about every episode. His "guide" is an Indian spirit - I am not sure if American or Asian Indian. Although they are looking for ghosts, any time anything "spooky" happens they all freak out and scream and yell - often some member of the crew sighs and somebody interprets it as a ghost sound. Their skeptic is not all that skeptical and his analysis at the end of the episode is pretty bad.

Travel Channel runs it and I'd watch for laughs while I was recovering from surgery. They did some live Halloween broadcasts - one I watched part of was live from the Edinburgh catacombs. During the live broadcasts, people could text in messages when they saw something on some of the webcast cameras. Or they could fax in drawings of ghosts they saw (or "saw").

Pretty hysterical with none of the debunking in the original Ghost Hunters. Ghost Hunters International seems like a blend of the silliness of Most Haunted tempered with a little of the skepticism of the original GH.

4. I like Most Haunted.
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 02:00 AM by Fox Mulder
I watch it for mostly amusement, though. Instead of getting scientific evidence of the existence of ghosts, the "investigators" get so scared they run out of the room from the slightest sound and don't go back in it. It's annoying. Yvette Fielding is mostly to blame for that.

I really liked Derek Acorah. Too bad he left the show. :(

19. Oh, I like it - it is fun and they do a nice job of showing the history of the locations
In fact, one article I read online about it talked about it as a way to do historical archeology long distance. (‘Most Haunted Live: Pirates’ Curse’. An Archaeology of Haunted Houses? http://traumwerk.stanford.edu/archaeolog/2007/10/most_haunted_live_pirates_curs.html)

But otherwise it is a little silly. I think Derek Acorah left because he was exposed as a fraud in some of the out takes posted on the internet. Check YouTube for those - this is one of the worst: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEP0usvErRI

I've enjoyed reading books and watching TV shows about "fuzzy thinking" subjects (hauntings, UFOs, cults, monsters) since I was a teenager. It is pretty amazing how consistently stupid most of them have been for the last forty years. :eyes:  :)

5. And not only that, two of the guys on the team are so fucking annoying.
One is a know-it-all and the other one is a jackass.

I like the original Ghost Hunters a lot better.

7. I hate those shows. The viewer really doesn't see anything all you go by
is some supposed noise or creak that the ghosthunters presumably hear. Those shows are all close ups of their faces, "What's that?" and camera tricks. It's fun to watch once or twice but once you've seen one "ghost hunters" you've seen them all.

It's crap. They show the same thing when reviewing the tapes. Show the tape, not the reaction shots!

15. Ghost Hunters Internations is a big yaaawwwwwnnnn....
The REAL TAPS show is riveting, and yet like watching
a family sit-com because the team members play off each other,
they tease, they bicker, they play jokes...
and the continuing drama of: "Is Brian on..or off the team this week?"

ANd I love how they travel around to local places I know...

But they need to dump the International Version.. sheesh.

He wants to debunk everything. And them standing around talking about how great they all were, in the investigation.
