I guess I just don't care about America |
|
If I really cared my support for Obama would change with this latest news.
I wish I was as pure of heart as some of you.

Why aren't you now supporting HRC for President? Cause you know, she voted differently and that ONE VOTE makes all the difference!!!:sarcasm: I've got even less tolerance for this nonsense when I'm not feeling well (as in today). There is so much other fucking things to worry about besides this one thing. Good grief, Obama's a politician not a saint for fucks sake. Sorry. Tired and cranky

4. One vote that was completely the opposite of what he said a few months ago. |
|
But I never did like or trust Obama anyway. Now he's just a proven liar. No surprise really.
But this bill was a really big deal, even if it only proves again what spineless cowards the Democrats are.
I am not voting anymore. I've had it.

5. Name ONE politician who hasn't done this. |
|
I can't-- even Kucinich has done this..He was pro-life until surprise, surprise he had a "revelation" before running for president. As my uncle the political scientist says..."all politicians are corrupt...some are worse than others". Thats why this stuff never bothers me. Its an unpleasant fact of life. Nor do I think that FISA passage is gonna effect me personally..I doubt I'd be thrown in Guantanamo for anything I say. Obama's the best of a bad bunch. I don't vote often FOR a politician, but agaisnt someone. (although I like Obama well enough for a POLITICIAN) Keep your expectations of political figures low, understand that a politician is NEVER gonna be like a regular person, nor will they ever make everyone happy, and you'll deal with this BS better. YMMV. Please vote though. The alternatives are much worse. :)

6. Well if you got a vote and don't want to use it, then use it for me. |
|
This is how I see it: America has two viable choices for President : Obama and McCain. Obama says he wants to give better healthcare, pass legislation to ensure that people don't get into foreclosure situations on their homes, redistribute wealth more evenly, and do something about the environment and something long term about the energy situation. McCain wants to give more tax breaks to the private health insurance companies, doesn't care about home foreclosures, wants to make the rich richer by giving them whopping tax breaks, he's paid lip service to the environment, and his solution to the energy situation is opening up lots of oil drilling and nothing much more than that.
Even if Obama turns into a Tony Blair and reneges on a lot of his promises at least he is giving us some hope. This election year feels a lot like the UK election year of 1997 where New Labour came in with a landslide knocking out the tired and corrupt Conservatives from power big time. They had hope: New Labour, New Britain, the Conservatives had New Labour, New Danger. Shift forward 11 years and move a continent. Obamas offering hope, McCain is saying look here's the boogeyman, no hope being offered at all.
So even if you're not that enthused with Obama, and I must admit that yes, I have issues with him too, he really is the best we have got and at the extreme least should have the duty of trotting to the polling place and marking the ballot for him. I'm just a permanent resident here and until I get the vote all I am asking is for people that I know to at the very least vote for the "least of two evils". America is a conservative country (with a small c) anyway so to me Obama would be at home in the UK Conservative Party idealogically, and I guess yes that makes me a completely whacky left wing loonie. Remember we're not present day Zimbabwe, or Saddam Hussein's Iraq - we do have something resembling democracy and we're not forced to turn up and vote for the incumbent on pain of death or worse.
So please do vote.
Thanks for listening, Mark.
