I have to go to Orlando next week |

The frugality of public broadcasting -- all of our summer conferences are in sweltering cities....:eyes:

1. My advice: Go to Wekiva Springs, just north of the city. |

72 degree water, fresh and clear. Perfect for warm summer days. And a beautiful place (like all of the Florida springs are).
You might also want to check out Blue Springs and Deleon Springs about half an hour north near Deland. If it were winter, you could see the manatees at Blue Springs. At Deleon Springs right next to the spring there is a pancake house where you can make all you can eat pancakes on a griddle in the middle of the table. Best pancakes ever, no lie.
Once you get away from all the sprawl and touristy areas, Orlando is actually an attractive city. Unfortunately, it is a little overwhelmed by all the tourist stuff, so a lot of the nicer stuff gets lost in the shuffle.

2. All of that sounds lovely |

But I don't know how much free time I'll have and I won't have a car... most of my time will be spent at the Omni Champions Gate Resort.

Well if you have free time, you might be able to get a cab or a bus to and from Wekiva Springs, if you are interested.
Otherwise, relax by the pool, I guess. I think my wife went to the Omni for a conference once, and it was a great hotel with a great pool area.
