Can I please vent about my car repair bill?
So, I've been trying to keep up on my car maintenance, so I went out and bought all new tires and brakes for my car - $700, but well worth it.

THEN, two weeks later, I'm driving along and a hear a *THUNK* sound. $1,500 later my compressor was replaced, BUT the car repair place broke my hood latch and bungee corded the hood down. I was gonna go back and complain the next Monday, but they were closing on a Saturday afternoon, and I had no other ride so I took the car when they did this. Less than 2 hours later, the hood flies up because they loosely secured the hood with an old, greasy, frayed bungee (I know, I should've checked it...), and the hood smashes my windshield, crushes the roof of the car, and the rearview mirror goes flying to the rear of the cab.

My insurance will cover all but $500 of the "direct damage" (I'll be taking this up with the car repair place later!), but they claim "pre-existing" damage that will need to be repaired in order for the hood, windshield, and roof to be fixed. Cost: $1,200.

So, I'll be paying a total of:

700
1,500
500
1,200

= $3,700 on my car in the last several weeks. The thing isn't probably worth more than twice that, but I'm already in this far.

UGH!!!!!!!!!!! Just venting!

1. I'd sue them.
And if I lost that suit, I'd drive a cement mixer through their lobby.

On fire.

Full of ill-tempered rattlesnakes.

That shoot killer bees out of their mouths.

Sorry for your experience, though.

2. Oh, I'm legally taking care of it.
Three year statute of limitations. I've done my part, notifying and documenting, etc. It's just frustrating.

4. I would *so* sue them
Man, if a car repair place broke something on MY car... boy.

Take flvegan's advice, with one small change: the rattlesnakes need to shoot killer bees and CHIGGERS out of their mouths, so they will be scratching their nads in AGONY for the next month. :o

I think they'd be physically pulling me off someone right about now if I were you. :nuke:

5. I am soooo sorry
I have had a plethora of car issues as well, and I just bit the bullet and acquired the new Malta Mobile this afternoon.

7. Sue them and then sell the car immediately. That thang has a murderous jinx on it.

9. Just think what would have happened if you had an accident when the hood blocked your view
You could have been killed!

10. I had a tire replaced at a National Tire and Battrery place
and it took a long time. The manager told me there had been a problem with one of the lugs, but the tire was mounted and the car ready to go.
The bill was more than I expected, but I thought they were charging me for replacing the stud, etc.

I later found they broke one of the 4 studs, and NEVER REPLACED IT, just installed the wheel cover over the broken stud, leav ing only 3 of 4 lug nuts to hold the wheel on.

I drove the car this way for nearly a year, every day to work, at pretty high speeds.

This is long in the past, but I will never go to NTB for any reason.
