ThinkBlue1966 had to be taken to the hospital via a 911 call and an ambulance yesterday evening, for middle-chest pain/squeezing/tightness. I just got home after spending all night with her at the hospital. She's still there. They don't think it was an MI, because the MI (heart attack) enzymes are not showing up in her lab work, but they kept her overnight hooked up to the cardiac monitor just to be safe, and they're setting her up for a bunch of tests today--a cardiac "stress test", an abdominal ultrasound, an echocardiogram, and a variety of CT scans, among other things.
For some reason, the hospital was insanely busy last night, and the Life Flight helicopters were landing at a rate of one every ten to fifteen minutes, which is just nuts. I could hear ambulances being announced as they arrived, too--nearly all trauma patients, and arriving at an alarming rate. The ED was so stuffed that anyone who wasn't at risk of death was shuffled out to sit in the waiting room with a blanket. People were on gurney beds lining the hallways. There were NO beds available upstairs for patients being admitted, so ThinkBlue1966 was told that she'd have to spend the night in the Emergency Department. There was only one small, hard chair in her room, so I have had no sleep at all. I tried laying down on a blanket on the floor of her room at one point, but it was too cold, and they were so over-stuffed with trauma patients that there just weren't any more blankets to spare, so I gave up. I took the first morning bus home at 6:15 am, and got home about 20 minutes ago. I. Am. Exhausted.
However, it looks like she's going to be okay, which is what really matters. I am currently waiting on the dog to finish eating his breakfast, so I can take him to go potty, and then I am going to my blessedly soft and wonderfully squishy bed.
My eyes are swimmy, so I'm gonna head out. Just wanted to let our friends know what's going on. :grouphug:
