Do roof and rough sound the same?

1. No matter how you pronouce roof, it never sounds like rough!

one has a "oo" sound and the other has a "uh" sound.

He says "roof" with the same sound as "foot".

6. The best ones are the Canadians.

My friends in Vancouver:

"Cloudy" is pronounced "Cloady"
"About" is pronounced "Aboat"

My friend in Calgary:

"Cloudy" is pronounced "Cloody"
"About" is pronounced "Aboot"

And as soon as I laugh at them, they come right back at me and say that I sound like a cast member from "The Sopranos". :rofl:

10. Seems to be the case all over Pennsylvania. Doesn't sound EXACTLY like "rough," but

I know what you mean. But hey, in Philadelphia they "warsh" their hands, rinse them with "wooder," and dry them with a "tal," so they're kind of a special case.
