How I inadvertently wound up in the hospital.
I just got home from the hospital. It all started Thursday morning, when I took my new mega-dose vitamins, which were prescribed by my GP. A few hours later, my heart was racing out of my chest and it was "fluttery". Thinking that it must be the vitamins, I called my doctor's office to ask about them and to describe my rapid heartbeat. Well, I'm also a heart patient and the doctor panicked and said "Get here right away". Believing it was really nothing, I lied and said "I don't have any transportation today". He then sent an ambulance to my house. As I'm being rushed to the hospital, sirens screaming and lights blazing, I tried to explain to the medics that I was only having a reaction to vitamins. Emergency room doctors, nurses, and cardiologists descend upon me, sticking leads on my chest, taking blood and inserting an IV. After monitoring my heart rate for six hours in the ER, I was admitted to the cardiac unit.

This morning, they woke me up at 5:00, put me on a gurney, and brought me down to a MIBI stress test. That took about an hour and a half. Two hours later, I was in the Operating room, having a cardiac catherization. Then they brought me back up to my room to wait for the results of all these tests.

Long story short (kind of), they concluded that my medications had to be updated and wrote some prescriptions.

I got home 30 minutes ago.

The moral of this story is; Never call your doctor to ask about vitamins.

3. I'm glad your doctor is concerned and cautious.
We want you to stay alive a while. If it was really something bad he'd be a hero right now. :)
