Penultimate - stupid people

Cash Cab earlier this week made me laugh. One of the questions was basically asking for the definition of penultimate: If you were on the penultimate beer of a six pack, which one would be drinking?

The contestants reasoned that penultimate must be derived from the same word as pentagram. A pentagram has five points ergo the penultimate beer of a six-pack must be the fifth.

Ben should have asked them for the penultimate beer of a twelve-pack.
