GD has a thread about who was President when you were born, so I can't pick that one.

Lets show GD just how smart we are in the Lounge.

12. I couldn't remember
So I Googled it. There was a damned good reason I couldn't remember (aside from the obvious fact that I was just a few minutes old): there was no Vice President then! Yup, there was a gap between April 12, 1945 and Jan 20, 1949 when the US had no VP. Roosevelt had died, and Truman served out the term without a veep.

Now, for the trivia question of the day: who was Truman's VP during his second term? I guessed wrong.

still in hospital w/ me. Back then you stayed 2 weeks for childbirth, you know.

Anyway, his VP was Alben Barkely I think for whom a very large lake in Kentucky is named.

Cordell Hull was Sec State, I think and Tennessee has a dam/lake named for him.

All for the purpose of getting electricity to the Southeast.

23. Yeah, for some bizarre reason
I thought Truman's VP had been Adlai Stevenson. I guess because that was the only other Democratic politician I can remember from my early childhood. My family was extremely liberal, so I'm just continuing the tradition.

My sister named her Teddy Bear "Harry Bridges". That's the kind of home I grew up in. Thank goodness.

103. Trick question!!!
LBJ had no Vice President while he was serving the remainder of JFK's term. Thus, there was no VP in 1964.

107. LBJ
JFK & LBJ came into the office in January, I was born a few weeks before the Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis. I actually remember when JFK was shot, I remember my parents freaking out. With the events in those years, including the messes in Viet Nam, there was quite a lot to be freaked out about.
