He lived a long time and he led a good life in that many, many people litteraly owe their lives to him. My family in particular can be thanful for this man's life, or the way he lived it if you will as the work he did directly led to the treatments that gave my Dad over 30 years of life he would not otherwise have had.

HOUSTON (AP) -- Dr. Michael DeBakey, the world-famous cardiovascular surgeon who pioneered such now-common procedures as bypass surgery and invented a host of devices to help heart patients, has died. He was 99.
