got the fleet's prep and all the juice & water. one question:
i HAVE to work tonight, 3p-11p, nobody around but me, and all the bathroom i can use. the instructions say take one prep at 6p and another at 8p. now, should i go ahead and do this, or wait til i get home and do it? i don't mind staying up all night if i have to, rather than being totally ridiculous at work.
(procedure at 8am) thanks for any input. will be back soon for guidance.

1. I have a friend who's been through this. |

I believe the stuff you drink induces extreme diarrhea. If you're a calisthenics instructor, you don't want to take it at work.

2. I'd wait till you were safe at home. |
|
You might have a problem getting there safely otherwise.

3. Fleet took that name for a reason. |
|
It's pretty much immediate. If you can stay home, do it.
On the other hand, unlike the pill or liquid-types, Fleet usually makes it a one or two-time trip. Not all night.

4. Been there, done that, many times. |
|
I would suggest that you follow the instructions given. If your colon is not sufficiently cleaned out, you may have to do the whole procedure all over again. NOT FUN. Make sure there is plenty of tp in the bathroom, clear a run space to get there and wear easy access clothes and you should be ok.
Is there no way you can take off?

5. If there's nobody around but you at work, "GO" for it... |
|
I'm having my third (and I'm only 42) this Friday. Have fun.
The first time, I woke up as the procedure was about half done. I looked up at the screen and saw my own innards. As the Doc was removing a Polyp, I said, "Be Careful, I get most of my ideas from just that spot." When he resumed the procedure after cracking up he told me that, as a Gastroenterologist, he hears a lot of lame jokes. Mine, however, was a real knee-slapper.

6. "Gastroenterologist" - hmm - so THAT'S what you call a person who |
|
. . .
inserts foreign objects "UnoWhere"
Always wondered if there was an official word for that - -

7. Poor you. Unfortunately I have these done too often. :( My suggestion |
|
is do it at work since you have the bathroom to yourself, BUT, I always end up feeling shaky and a bit sick. I don't know how you will react. I don't do the Fleets though. I take the Colightly (blech). Best of luck, you'll be in my thoughts. The procedure itself is painless.

8. Just went thriught this 2 weeks ago |
|
STAY HOME !! You will definitely be making many BR trips. Use soft toilet paper and vaseline. Diarreha is very irrating and the vaseline will help prevent it. For me that was the worst part of the whole process. Good luck !!

9. I went through this last week |
|
I took the first dose at 4PM. NOTHING! Gurgling tummy but no "output" .....until 5AM. Then I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere but in the bathroom.
The second dose at 6AM was worse as far as taste goes but things were pretty much cleaned out by then.
The Fleet box said it could take anywhere from 30 minutes to 6 hours to work. Took a little longer to work for me.
I'd suggest you call in sick but that's just me.
Good luck. Indeed, this will be the worst part of the whole ordeal.

11. tips from a nurse I know |
|
re: this procedure.
She said ... 1. Refridgerate; 2. NOON; 3. Drink with a straw.
I don't know if this helps or not. Good luck with the test. I hope you don't remember any of it.

12. My Dad just had one last week... |

and he said no sweat. They gave him Vercid and he doesn't remember a thing. He was up and active the same day as his exam. He said the Fleet prep was the worst thing about the whole ordeal. Good luck.

I have to down a bottle of MiraLax at 3 and 6pm.... but my test isn't until 2pm tomorrow.
The thing that's going to get to me is the fasting! It'll be almost 2 full days.

14. Don't know what you do at work |
|
I wouldn't want to be at work while it was working. On the other hand, I have had been at work during an illness that caused the same effect and got through the say. I wouldn't start taking it later than it says. I took mine when I was suppose to and still was having movements up until the hour before the test.

(no pun intended). The stuff the gave you will blast through you in about 20 min's after you take it; I know, I've been there. You are going to wish you had a porty-potty strapped your back! Man, I damn near blew my ass off with that stuff.
The 3 hour difference will most likely not make a difference, in fact, it is almost a little better. But to be honest, I'm not gonna go against what your doc said.
Be prepared for something that best be explained as the closest thing you'll ever encounter that is like dysentery.
The procedure itself is not bad, especially if your out like a rock. They gave me Fentanyl, great rush for a split second, then snoozing!
