I found out today that as of June 30th I no longer have health/prescription insurance

my STBX "retired" when they sold his business and he became a "consultant"
We were supposed to be offered COBRA but he probably got the letter since the insurance is in his name and never informed me.... I went to pick up my pills today and found out from the pharmacist that my insurance was terminated on June 30th.
$165.00 for my Wellbutrin......

Can someone please, please explain to me how someone you spent 30 years with

acts as if you don't exist.... ??? WTF??



He didn't come to dinner for our daughters 25th birthday either (his loss we had a GREAT time)...

are in-between Medicare and private plans?

Also, talk to your doctor(s) about getting some samples to tide you over until you can get coverage.

I believe that in NJ if your insurance lapses for more than 2 or 3 months they don't have to pay for any "pre-existing conditions" for a certain time period.

I think it might be time to just stop being nice about it.
He's not being nice. At this point he's harmed you in a tangential way with his ignorance, forgetfulness, or meanness here. Its not just existential anymore, his actions have put you in the category of the uninsured.

I know its hard to put on the game face because of the long relationship that you didn't ask for it to end, but its time sweetie.

The real hard part lies ahead in the acceptance that someone that you once believed cared for you doesn't and the repercussions that has down the line for trust issues.

That is something I forever adore about my dad. He has 2 ex wives, my mom being the first when I was a baby, and had children with both women.

He has always treated both women kindly, has a friendly relationship with both, and kept in contact with all his kids.

I don't think I've ever seen him angry, but one time, about 30 years ago, he cut me off at the knees when I made a rude comment about my mother, and referred to her as a bitch. He cut me off in no uncertain terms, and told me he never wanted to hear me talk about my mother that way again.

You deserve the same, and I am sorry your STBX is being such a pig. You ARE the mother of his children, and he is doing them a disservice too.
