so I can stay home in bed? :P

They'll deal with me working slowly today. But it's still going to be a very long day.

44. might be better off just calling in sick
and taking a day to recover. my migraines will last for days if I don't take the time to deal with it. if I just take a nap, some pain killers and some caffeine and relax for a few hours, then it's usually gone.

one day lost versus several mediocre work days...

4. Hi, fight4my3sons!
I don't think I've spoken to you before. Welcome to the lounge. :hi:

I see that you've been around for years and have a lot of posts, so somehow our paths just haven't crossed.

Thank you for the hug. It's at least as effective as some of these #$%@&! pills. I've taken 2 over the counter migraine pills that did nothing, and then one prescription pill that has reduced the headache but hasn't made it go away. I'm procrastinating on going into the office because I can't travel this way. x(

I can take one more prescription pill and then I'm out of luck if the headache is still holding on.

What a day...

I hope your headaches are few and far between.

13. I am on Topamax for the past few years.
It seems to help. I have had to increase the dosage a few times. My migraines come with having a blood clotting disorder and from tension (4yr old twins and a 5 3/4 yr old - all boys) busy life. I also have furicet (spelling?).

I think I have only once spoken with you when your cat had surgery. I think it was your cat. I don't post a lot of OPs, not a lot to say and can't organize my thoughts well with three little boys charging around the house!

18. I was on Topamax for about a year....
and it DID reduce the number and intensity
of my headaches.

I just didn't like that it made it hard to
concentrate and decreased my libido.

After MY last 3-day headache, from this past
Thursday to Saturday, though, I'm thinking of
going back on the stuff!

42. keep hydrated!!
Topamax did wonders for my migraines, but I didn't monitor myself well when it was hot, and developed heatstroke several times.

I've since gone off of it because of that and some of the other side-effects, but the heatstrokes have left me weaker in the heat than I was previously.

that if I'm feeling coherent and smart enought to read your poetry breaks I always enjoy them. :)

I'm only seeing out of one eye at the moment, so I'm keeping my reading to a minimum, but I'll see you on your threads when I can.

23. I spent most of the weekend doing exactly that.
Today, unfortunately, I had to go to work regardless of how I felt. But I can choose what I'm working on day to day, so I chose to do stuff that I can do all alone without interacting with anyone. That helped. :)

The day got better around noon and it's been okay since then.

24. Hi Mutley!
The day definitely got better and I was feeling okay by lunch time. :)

It rained last night, so that might have been the trigger. I just hope I don't get another migraine tomorrow. 3 in a row is more than enough, and should be more than enough for the whole week.

10. Sorry to hear that.....
I can count on one hand the number of migraines I've had in my life, and I can't imagine how people learn to deal with those things on a regular basis! Hope you get to feeling better....

Sad thing is, I'm totally caught up on my work this week so I probably COULD come stand in for ya (but probably wouldn't know what to do!)

Migraines, unfortunately, never resolve quickly. But it did go away, and the after effect wasn't too bad today. I was able to function at work very well in the afternoon and early evening. I worked late to keep up with things.

16. I looked to see where you were from
because I've had the same for three days and I think it is the humidity. This morning it was awful and I did kind of get rid of it but now I feel it coming back, like when your head gets that "big as a beachball" feeling. Last week I had one where I couldn't see for a while and actually had trouble with word retrieval, doctor says that can happen. They really suck. Now I will get them for a while and then probably not for quite a while. They come in clusters.

:banghead:

I hope yours goes away soon. I know how you feel. :(

30. Weather is one of my triggers, so you might be right.
It could be the humidity. They definitely come in clusters when the weather is changing dramatically. :(

I had to stop taking Topomax because it conflicts with my Fibro med, Lyrica, but the Lyrica seemed to be suppressing my migraines too so it was okay. Maybe the Lyrica isn't as good as I thought.

37. Maybe you need a higher dosage
of the Lyrica. I can't really take much for mine. The Imitrex type drugs make me really sick. Luckily they're not that frequent or I'd be in trouble.

17. I assume you're a guy.
But everyone can use Magnesium. I don't go a day without it, and it has greatly helped my hormonal migraines. It has helped men with migraines as well. Start taking it and see what happens. Most graines are the result of a magnesium deficiency.

31. Yes, I'm a guy.
My Neurologist suggested the same thing. She said that a magnesium deficiency doesn't cause migraines but can make them much more common or much worse. So I've been trying to increase the magnesium in my diet.

I haven't gone with a suppliment yet because if I can get what I need from food then I prefer to avoid suppliments. But I will have to give it a try if the clusters come back. :(

but will move to a kind of headache similar to a migraine...

you have my complete sympathy.

I don't feel like doing much of anything at those times.

Actually I don't feel like doing much of anything today... but I've gone on a short hike, ate out, played putt putt, and rode go carts. Now I'm chillin' and listening to tunes

I wore my sunglasses indoors until lunch time, didn't talk to anyone, didn't answer my phone, and did a good job of being antisocial.

In the afternoon I become human again. :)

38. Hi ThomCat!
Sorry to hear of your plight. I understand exactly where you are coming from, as I have had 2 migraines in the past week.

Did you ever try Well Patch Migraine Patches? They don't care of the whole problem but do bring some relief. You can actually wear them at work, if your boss isn't too fussy.

I work in a pharmacy, and we stock them there; they're not super-expensive, either.

Good luck!

I don't think I can safely get the massage any more because of the Fibro pain. I keep saying I'm going to try accupuncture, but it's a money issue. :(
