Poll question: How can HEyHEY solve his mouse problem? |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-22-04 12:24 PM by Catshrink
Our brother in Canada has a domestic problem. His apartment is also home to a family of mice. Let's have a DU vote on how best to help him solve the "problem."

We've tried other things, and they work only marginally.

not immediately. Sometimes the critter will get someplace difficult to reach before croaking. I know people who have had to tear sofas apart to remove smellie mouse corpses... not a good thing

4. I used that D-Con stuff |
|
the kind in the wedge shaped boxes. This was in Chicago when we had mice in the crawl spaces where the cats couldn't get at them. It worked and we didn't have an odor problem either because of the way the stuff works.
Best solution: get a cat!

then the cat eats the mice. Then you get a dog. The dog eats the cat and you have a wonderful pet who will love you unconditionally till the day he dies !

6. Call the 'Rent-a-Cat' dealer! |
|
Better yet, get one of his own---they make GREAT companions. :)

In all seriousness, some traps would be of benefit. And looking for the mouse nest would help... But if mice are in his apartment, what about neighboring apartments? I think it's exterminator time, especially if the nest cannot be found...

10. Wouldn't *asking* the landlord to help first be a better idea? |
|
Calling the authorities straight off seems needlessly confrontational.:)

ask first. If that doesn't work, confrontation can be the next step.
Better yet, get a 4-legged exterminator.

There is this mouse paper, it's made of a mixture of linseed oil and turpentine. And once the mouse goes on, it can't come off.
I used to get these for my mom's house. I'd throw them outside after the mouse got trapped for the cats to get their carry out for the evening.
My mom was more sadistic. She'd boil a pot of water and pour it on the hapless victim.

Whatever you do, don't poison them. They crawl into a wall to die and stink the place up!

I must destroy these mice. On the one side...hopefully I get the go-ahead on the new job soon. Then I get to move away from them!
