Features DU 3.0 should have |
|
I have one.
Auto-filter out thread titles by key word. For example, if one typed in...oh, I don't know, say "New Yorker" into the nifty filter, no thread titles featuring "New Yorker" would be seen by the end user.
Yes, that would be nice.

4. That would actually be a great feature. |
|
Also, a "reply with quote" link so that you don't have to copy and paste what a person is saying if you wanna comment on parts of their post, or refer to the thread tree or click the "Reply to post #" link to see what is being replied to.

5. An auto-replace feature so that every time someone types "loose" instead of "lose" |
|
that poster is immediately replaced with someone who has a clue.

6. I would like to see the "hide thread" button hide the thread and reload the page |
|
and not go to that other page telling you its been hidden requiring another click to get back to the first page.

8. "filter pages by thread starter IQ" |
|
I try to get the people who are too stupid to breathe without regular reminders on my ignore list, but it would be easier to automate the process.

there should be some way to keep DUers from having a snootful and then posting whatever ill-tempered, judgement-deprived insanity is running through their booze-addled brains.
Sadly, this seems unlikely.

You know that's just going to invoke a vast amount of "blow" jokes. They'll have to amend the DU rules.

It would save me several minutes every day of scrolling through the 3 main forums for good locks (that's where the action usually is).

For example, the moderators could decide to ban a user (for the sake of example we'll use flvegan) from any topic involving a problematic keyword (lets randomly choose "lesbians.")

19. if you try to post on a thread while logged out, after logging in it takes you back to that post |
|
instead of taking you no where then you have to go find the post you were going to reply to again.

20. I'd like to color code Usernames in the reply trees o I could assign (say): |
|
Green to posters I usually wanted to read, Blue to posters I sometimes wanted to read, and Red to posters I never wanted to read but felt I had to read so I could refute them. My color assignments would only be visible to me, but it would help me wander through threads more efficiently
I'd also like to be able to turn ignore on/off for a multiposter "block" with a single click: I can't bother with these particular people when I'm tired but I might read them all when I'm in a good mood or I think these folk are trolls; right now I need to be able to read this thread without them; but I don't want to ignore them forever. It would be nice to have eight or ten blocks, of up to (say) fifty posters each, with the ability to turn each block on/off separately with a click
And (I should add) when I suggested several months ago that DU should offer free housing-cleaning services to donors, that was a typo. What I meant is that DU should offer us sex-slaves. I apologize for any confusion that caused

22. The feature that vBulletin has that the DU software doesn't is |
|
when the cursor hovers over the title of a thread, a little pop-up shows the first sentence or two of the thread. This is a great help in deciding whether to take the plunge into that thread or not. A thread with a title that just says, "You won't believe this!" doesn't tell you much, but the pop-up showing the first 2 sentences can go a long way to help you decide if it's worth the time going into that thread.

24. I'm shocked. Nobody has suggested an autoupdate for DU's Hate Mailbag. |
|
Like every time some shit writes in, an automated EarlG-esque response gets churned out and it all gets posted.
3.0 should also bring back ATA. Why? Because some folks just can't find their keys.
