Another Stupid Question Re: Computers (Microsoft Outlook)
In the process of cleaning my computer, I shifted most of my files over from one login (generic user) to another (administrator).

The problem is, now I'm having to set up my programs again, and specifically MS Outlook. Now I can't find any of my old e-mail messages.

Can anyone point me in the right direction in terms of file names or extensions, or folders I can move over? I've scoured my directories, and I can't figure it out.

Thanks!

DTH

1. Do a search for the PST file....
Run a generic search for *.pst
Should appear as outlook.pst
Check the date on it as well.
Then you will have to import it to your new outlook profile.

3. Well, if searching on .pst gives you no results
it sounds like you cleaned a little too hard

6. Disappearing Files

When your files disappear, you get pissed. Now you know why they call them .PST files.

4. OK....
sometimes MS "hides" the PST file from searching. Don't know why.
Its usually located buried deep in:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

So, search in the folder for the previous username that you were
using.

9. God, All These Hidden Directories
They don't show up at all. Makes me wonder what else is hiding. Do you know an easy way to "unhide" or reveal them?

Thanks again!

10. Open Windows Explorer....
then, click on Tools | Folder Options
Click on the View tab at the top.
Select "show hidden files and folders".
Viola!

Just the standard MS bs...they don't want you "messing up" their
OS... :eyes:
