List things that had a "golden age" and are no longer any good now.
Obviously, rock music had its golden age (1964 to 1974 in my opinion) but what other things had a "golden age" and are still happening now but are spoiled or just a shadow of what they were in their golden age?

For me, chemistry sets and science kits in general.

The American Basic Science Club has to be the best educational toy of all time. A series of monthly kits covered a wide range of science topics, and you built the projects yourself, using what they sent you in the kits. Many items were re-used ingeniuously from one kit to another kit. The manuals alone are priceless. I learned more from this series of kits than I ever learned in science classes in school.

18. Oh screw you! Why do you pick on the TWO items I chose to collect last decade??
And still have, in boxes, just waiting for their value to appreciate??

Talk about missing the mark, eh? :banghead:

17. I recently found one of those vintage Chemcraft kits at the thrift store!
It was the kind I had when I was a kid, you know, the kind with all the *real* chemicals and a real bunsen burner, stuff you could do real damage with (in a good way, I mean, lol)

Then I checked ebay and sure enough, you can still find them there, too.

30. That's what I was going to say.
I still like it, though. I figure that MLB had a pretty long golden age, 50s-70s IMO, pretty impressive really.

(not that there isn't excellent even better work being done today but there was clearly a 'golden age' in the late 30's through early 60's)
