31. I have been to this swimming hole!
I saw the photos and was thinking it was in Leyden, and then here you are posting that it's the same swimming hole! Nice to know you can still access it. Another favorite swimming hole of mine was in Russell, but now you can't get to it because they've built a subdivision and you'd have to either bushwhack from a mile away or cut through some hoity-toity person's yard.

I didn't know you were from Greenfield, bi-baby. I spent a lot of time up there in my youth, had a couple of really good friends who went to the community college, also dated a redneck whose best friend lived in Leyden (hence the watering hole memories). I'm from Wilbraham, no where near as pretty as the Mohawk Trail area. :hi:

9. There's much more to MA than Ocean...
In fact, most of MA isn't near the ocean. These pics are from about 5 min from VT, 25 min from NH, and 1.5 hours from NY. Up is the woods. I miss home. x(

Awww, thanks! :pals:

And, we're working on it, trust me...No luck yet. *pout*

But, not until he let out a HUGH croak and scared the bejeebus out of me...I've become way too urban. Ugh.

Isn't he cute? We saw a hummingbird too. :hi:

Bus/Incline/Subway only...Even to the 'burbs. But, when I first moved there, I drove up many a cobblestone hill with my Ex-BF. Yikes. But it was worth getting to Mad Mex:

18. Colder than I like to think about!!
More tolerable in late summer. I haven't been yet this year cuz me doggie is on activity restriction until he recovers from his surgery. I'm hoping to get him in a few good swims before the weather turns. We'll see if it works out or not. I'm really close to the source of the river (and that river fills the lake in the last pictures) and it comes straight from snowmelt and somewhere up in the mountains. It really IS cold.

Someday I'll get around to uploading the videos I took of him last year, diving completely under the water to pick up softball sized rocks from the bottom. He's crazy.

20. Awwww, I've been reading about his recovery, and
I really hope he heals well and soon... :pals:

Yeah, this is a snowmelt river too...Straight from VT. That part is dammed up with rocks, so it gets pretty nice in the sun. The trick is to sit in the hot sun for about 1/2 hour, and then jump in! :d

23. My contribution - the view from Poet's Seat Tower in Greenfield, MA

Being the surveying geek I am, I got excited and had to take a pick of the disk at the top of Poet's Seat Tower.

And the trek up the tower made me hungry.

The thing I miss most after moving to the PNW is TREES. REAL trees - not those of the evergreen variety. Both you and BiBaby's pics have lots of REAL trees. Me like. :D

34. Arlo is so cool.
I'd live in Great Barrington if I could figure out how to make a living there. Can't remember the name of the little theater there, but I saw a great concert there right before I moved out to Colorado in 2001. Very intimate performance space. As I recall GB has a really good Army/Navy store, too.
