so who was it that defined insanity |
|
as doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result?
I gotta tell ya.... it turns out that this is exactly what my 22+ years at my job have turned into.
Hey, if I get FIRED (as opposed to laid off) can I collect severance pay?

1. If they owe you vacation time, they have to pay you for that |
|

4. Typically not for a 'firing' |
|
as in you screwed up so much you're out that day.
There are grievance claim systems available, but they will probably be lengthy.
However, I'm no expert on these matters, this is just how I understand it works.

5. Not if you are fired for cause. |
|
I don't think you can collect unemployment in that case. I wouldn't stake my life on it,but I'm pretty certain you would have to fight for unemployment if that were the situation. On the other hand, the employer would also have to show evidence that you were rightfully fired.

3. You can get severance pay if you are terminated. |
|
If you are wrongfully terminated, you might want to get yourself a lawyer and get some extra severence.

9. All depends on the circumstances |
|
if you run around your office naked, they may not fire you but instead commit you
Then fire you for other reasons when you return...
I think insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results may have come from the 12 step program Narcotics Anonymous. That was where I read it first. Of course it may have been around for a loooong time before that. That's just the first place I saw it and the place where it made the most sense. Addiction is insanity in that it is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results
Legal definitions of insanity usually center around the ability to distinguish right from wrong.
Fired vs. laid off...
all depends why you were fired. If you were downsized and your job was eliminated, severance.
If you did something against the policy of the company, probably no severance.
