A newspaper reporter was traveling on the Washington Beltway, when all of a sudden the traffic stops cold. She motions to a nearby traffic cop and asks him what the problem is.

He says, “Well the presidential motorcade has stopped up ahead, and President Bush is threatening to light himself on fire with gasoline.”

“Why would he do something like that?”

“He’s depressed because things are looking horrible in Iraq with over 4,700 casualties, The Taliban have retaken Afghanistan, nobody wants to invade Iran, our defense is stretched to the max, we still haven’t caught Osama bin Laden, gas is over $4.00 a gallon, unemployment is the highest it’s been in decades, banks are going broke, the budget has gone to a $200 billion surplus to a trillion dollar deficit, everybody’s losing their health insurance, and he’s doomed McCain in the race for president. We’re taking up a collection.”

“Well, how’s it going?”

“We’re up to 250 gallons, but the rest of the people are still siphoning.”
