do you live below the poverty line?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_line">wikipedia info

i for sure am below the poverty line, but this year, i think just might be different. even living with little means, i have a fairly happy life, though i'm scared if i ever do make money, i'll just spend the same proportionate amount i do now, which would still render me low, low income.

what about y'all? i realize this is a very personal question, so feel free to call me out on my inappropriateness if you don't feel like sharing.

1. What is sad is how wrong those figures are. Those figures should define ABJECT poverty.

Even doubling them, a person or family would still be struggling to survive to such an extent that it should still be considered poverty.

2. oh definitely
i think it helps the statistics for pple 'below' the poverty line, keeps it smaller that way.

totally sad, like minimum wage is just a joke. we all need a living wage.

3. No
Here is a quote from the page you cited:

"The poverty threshold is adjusted each year. In 2007, in the United States of America, the poverty threshold for a single person under 65 was US$10,787; the threshold for a family group of four, including two children, was US$21,027"

How does a family of 4 survive on $21,027?

This is sad.

4. THat also should be adjusted for area that you live
I'm not below the poverty line and its just me..but there was little way for me to be out on my own when I was making about $22,000 a year..because of how expensive it is here. I had to live at home for awhile until I could find a roommate..If I hadn't lived relatively rent free with my mom..Yeah..I would of been not well off...
