I vaguely know most of the other songs on this thread, but "Miss Lucy" was always my favorite, and probably for the reasons you describe (childhood ersatz profanity).
It's funny, because I'm in another thread focused on losing a lot of my childhood through a brain injury, but some of the things I remember perfectly are these songs and rhymes. It is very interesting to me the sorts of things we retain.
Oh, and I'm a poker fan too. Love it. :-)

Check out Wendy's South Park rhyme I posted elsewhere in this thread. I will crack you up.
Yeah, poker is fun but not last Saturday. I watched a player pick up two straight flushes within about five hands and then she knocked me out with four of a kind (I had a full house). Someday I will learn to make the big lay-down.

He's a poker-kinda-knows-it-but-my-wife-is-better-at-it sort of guy. We were at a local eatery the other night. They were playing WSOP on the TV, and it was one of those things where one of the players was bluffing himself senseless based SOLELY on the pair sitting on the table (his pocket cards gave him Nothing, with the capital 'N'). The dominant (read: winning) player was sitting on a full house, and really taking his time about his bet decision. I'm sitting there, "Bet! Bet!" (because it's what I would have done.) He finally did.
The interesting part was my husband asked me, "Why did he wait so long to make his decision? He had a full house." I told him: "there's something called four of a kind, and it bites your butt as soon as you discount the possibility." He says: "Well, that's a statistical improbability, right?" (He's a logical sort.) I responded: "Well, yes: it's a statistical improbability until you're all in, then it's close to certain." :-)

Last Thursday I flopped four Kings. The only problem was I couldn't get any action. I checked the flop and everyone checked after me. I made a small bet on the turn and everyone folded, probably figuring I had a set.

You've got your hand (four Kings!) after the flop, and everyone else is playing Call, if even that.. Aaaaargh! That's when I wonder why in the hell I play, LOL. :-)

40. Quad deuces would have given me plenty of confidence |
|
and the pair of deuces on the board wouldn't have been nearly as intimidating as the Kings were. They still might have put me on trip deuces but I still might have gotten more action than I did.
