Egads. I'm in Los Angeles. |

Here for a truthout manager's meeting. The last time I was here, in 1996, the sky was pink. Today it's just nice and cloudy...and warm. :)
Hello LA DUers!! :hi:

7. LOL! that is funny you think 63 is cold!! |
|
I used to live in downtown Long Beach when I was in the navy and stationed there in the late 80's. I know live in CT where 63 degrees would be considered a freakin heatwave right now!

Have fun! The few times I've actually been up to Los Angeles (I live in Orange County) it has been very plesant. Hopefully it isn't raining up there, cause it was down here earlier.

My garden looks nicer after a rain, all the dirt and grime is washed off all the buildings, so everything looks clean and bright AND unlike other parts of the world, the weather will be warm and sunny once the rain stops.

Hopefully, you won't have to fight the traffic while you're here.

I like the showers - but I just recently moved back here, afater leaving in 1959. Place has changed some since then. In the 50's when we'd go to downtown LA (I lived in Van Nuys) our eyes would water and burn from the smog. Now I live in Altadena, on the side of a mountain. I didn't know LA had mountains! If you want a pretty country-type drive, go north on the coast highway from Santa Monica till you pick Mulholland Highway, than follow that to Topanga Canyon Rd. Take a right, stop at the view place at the top for a look at the valley, then down through the canyon, a funky place indeed. You come out back on the coast highway north of Santa Monica....so you really didn't go anywhere, I guess - but it's pretty. Also, there's Joshua Tree, an amazing place. It's like, 2-3 hour drive eastward - and very, very beautiful.

24. Have dinner at Four Oaks |
|
2181 N. Beverly Glen Boulevard, if you have enough money to squander. Great unfussy French food, excellent wines, wonderful atmosphere...I had dinner with George Harrison there! (well, he was in the same room) Mmmm, Four Oaks... :D
