You know what would really modernize the image of the Catholic Church?
I was just downstairs peeing and I thought of this...
I keep hearing about how the Catholic Church needs to be more accessible and appealing to modern Americans, and I have a very simple solution.
They need to change up the spelling of their organization; I'm thinking something like
"The Kathlyk Chrch", you know- kind of edgy, with a spelling that hearkens to the text-messaging masses. I think they should do it. I think it's a good idea.

3. As a Catholic growing up in a Catholic family, my parents would always say Cat-hol-ek Church

When I was little, I actually thought it was a real church where they worshiped cats.

It would be like this:

4. Would you please update your blog, woman?!
I have to tide myself over by re-reading your letters to various companies...which are admittedly hilarious, but I need something new! :bounce:

And as Sophie would say, don't touch the global when it's burning up, you will burn your fingers.

9. Buddy Christ was my first thought as well!
He was part of the "Catholicism Wow!" campaign in the movie. I need to pull it out and watch it again!

7. maybe not basing everything on outdated 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th century mores
etc. might be a good start!

(as someone who was raised Catholic with basically positive experiences at Catholic School and related to plenty of priests and nuns, I am allowed to say that!)

10. Maybe updating the doctrine to include midi-chlorians?
It would put a lot more bite in a phrase like "I find your lack of faith disturbing."

12. What, free wine isn't enough for you?
Try getting THAT from the Baptists or Presbytarians! And the UUs would probably be upset because it wasn't a California white with the right vintage...

15. They don't give you a very heavy pour though, and
the snacks suck. The holy water needs to be a lot stronger.
