I just got my annual pre-spring cold |
|
It seems everyone around my university has been getting sick, and now I have succumbed as well.
Any ideas on how to beat this thing quickly? I have an exam tomorrow and it sucks studying when your head feels stuffed, you have a sore throat, and constantly feel tired.
I took Nyquil last night and that knocked me out for 12 hours (though it gave me very strange dreams). Plan on doing so again tonight!

to see a physician just to be on the safe side. I just got out of the hospital after having come down with pneumonia. It started out with only flu-like symptoms. By day 4 I fainted in the kitchen while reading the paper, luckily the wife was nearby to bring me to and call the doctor. Very scary.

I dunno if it is necessary to go to the Dr. My symptoms are not at the intensity level of "flu like " ones and I can get through the day.
I just feel a bit "under the weather".

6. Here's what works for me and has been working for 10 years now: |
|
I always make sure to have this stuff on hand so it can be taken immediately. I take 2000 mg of vitamin C every few hours throughout the day with lots of water or food. And then I take 2 cayenne capules(get the 'cool cayenne' from health food store - won't hurt your stomach) and also 2 golden seal caps (they have to be gs root, rather than herb - much stronger) at least twice a day, but not at the same time as the vitamin C. I stagger them. This method hasn't failed me in at least 10 years. Goes for flu as well. But it's important to have this on hand all the time. Health food stores often aren't open on Sundays and if you feel something coming on Sat afternoon, you're pretty screwed til Monday. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

5. Your symptoms don't sound too bad yet, |
|
but be careful. University settings are good for spreading things like mono, strep, and yes, even meningitis. I'm sure you'll be fine, just don't hesitate to see the doc if you start to feel significantly worse. Hope you feel better soon!

to see if you have allergies. I used to think that I got a "spring" cold every year and discovered that I really had an allergy that kicked in just as the weather warmed.
