Holy Shit!
I just got the best news!

In about two months I was going to face a real issue: my wife and child's health insurance was going to run out. To join them to the company plan would have set me back around 800 a month, and separate insurance on our own would have been around 500 bucks more on top of that a month. No idea how we were going to deal with that.

My boss just pulled me in to his office and told me to shut the door. I did, thinking 'oh dear, what now?'

Good news thats what! As part of my review, coming up in about a month, the company's agreed to pay the tab to add them to the health plan. I'm not allowed to talk about it as I'm the only one getting this, but hooo-damn! Best damn thing they could have given me!

:bounce: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I'm so excited I'm shaking.

6. I am incredibly happy for you, and also incredibly sickened
by the fact that decent healthcare is something so rare and valuable that a working American citizen gets excited enough to "shake" over it. It shouldn't have to be that way. It's like watching someone shake with excitement over a rice allotment, or the right to cast a vote.

Goddamn the selfish assholes who care more about billionaires than about saving lives. :(

11. I know. Sad, isn't it?
Still, we'd been facing basically an onrushing financial Mack Truck, and it seems to have magically taken the off ramp.

9. Good news for you
but it sucks that the company can't extend that benefit openly and honestly to other eligible employees. It wasn't that long ago that employer-provided health care benefits included "family plans" for either no excess or only nominal premium over individual plans.

BTW, at one of my former employers the management cut a confidential "special deal" on child care subsidies for one employee, but in distributing the decision to others in the know, the senior manager sent a company-wide email. Within six months there was a new policy on child care subsidies. }(
