16. Well, if, as he has said repeatedly... he made this movie, was compelled

to make the movie due to his enduring and everlasting faith in Christ, and the movie becomes profitable from its very graphic depiction of the last days and horrendous suffering of Christ, I would have to think his sincerity might be justifiably questioned if he did not do "Christ's work" with any profits.

I think he deserves any money he earns in any way he wants to make it. But, if one poses that they are being moved and directed by the Holy Ghost as Gibson told Diane Sawyer to make this movie, then would you not also think that he would be moved by same Holy Ghost to help Christ's needy here on earth, rather than enrich himself becoming essentially one of the "money traders?" That is why I think he should donate profits. To do otherwise (after recouping the money he'd invested) seems totally in opposition to his stated goals.

and instead do the one year promo with a 3000 screen release this week (actually the plan was 2100 screens - then Mel got lucky - he will make a great deal more than his investment because of the extra screens - but much of the 25 million was promo costs - as always - this was never intended as a non-profit work of religious faith, but it is a work of faith - it is his beliefs - and he did put up the money)
