Stiller only has one schtick--trying to be cool, failing, and pretending not to know we know he failed--but it is used perfectly in this wonderful picture.

40. Well, we have a lot in common, anyway, since President Carter was my avatar on DU,
since we had avatars, until I changed to Kucinich, just for this election. President Carter was my candidate since he first ran, my hero and just an amazing person.... :hi:

49. Excellent!
I love Jimmy Carter so much I named my son after him! Little Carter Dean is progressing nicely in Democratic politics.

In a perfect world, Kucinich would be a shoe-in for prez. He's always who I score/identify closest with on all those candidate quizzes.

56. Wow! That is so cool! Did you ever tell President Carter that you named your child after him?
He sure would be both impressed and flattered, and he deserves a great deal of praise, since he does such excellent work.:patriot:

Jimmy Carter was my candidate from the time he first ran. I wasn't at all political, back then, but I could tell that he was a good person. He got my first vote. I come from a long line of Republicans *sigh*, and my brother used to refer to him as "Rhiannon's man," making fun of me, but I would vote for him again today.:-)

AS far as those quizzes are concerned, it's just the same for me. I knew that Dennis Kucinich was my candidate as soon as we started hearing from him about Iraq. He was called "unpatriotic" for his views, but he was right from the beginning. And on the quizzes, I always match up 100% with him, as well. I also liked John Edwards a lot, but think that Obama can win for us, this time around... This trip that John McCain goaded him into making has just been stellar and made us a lot of friends around the world. :D

54. I agree that "Meet The Parents" was a very funny movie.
Whether it could have been funny with someone else in his role? Not sure. I think Zach Braff would have been excellent.

The sequel, however - "Meet The Fockers" - sucked butt. Through a straw.

41. I'm so glad you posted this.
I can't say he's never made a funny movie. He's been in a lot of funny movies and he's given some good performances. Overall, however, I find him pretty damn unfunny for a comedic actor. And his brand of humor --squirm comedy--just isn't my cup of tea. It's just uncomfortable to watch. On top of that, he's got so much latent anger lurking just beneath the surface. Even when he's being funny, it just seems like he's pissed off. Not a bad actor, not a bad person, decent comedian, but I'm not a fan.

I haven't really bothered with his other movies, for the most part, and quite a few of them don't look appealing. I don't get why the whole B.S. phenomenon. (Hmm...) But I will give credit where credit is due.

The only time he really worked for me was in Mystery Men. He was okay as the over-the-top crazy bad guy in Heavyweights, but when he tried to basically redo that same role a few years later in Dodgeball it really just didn't work for me. I think it was because Heavyweights was a kids movie, whereas Dodgeball wasn't.

64. That was the part that made me cringe, LOL.
I guess I'm like the guy in SNL who ran over pedestrians because he could only use his own bathroom at home...:D

Jennifer Aniston was the main draw in that movie, IMO, but I really liked Ben Stiller's dancing scene...:hi:

As for Adam Sandler, the only movie I saw of his was "Anger Management," since I couldn't stand him on SNL, which I thought was okay, but Jack Nicholson was the main draw in that one, though there wasn't a Brussels Griffon in sight. ;)

63. No, only stupid ones. And it's sad because he has a lot of talent.
He used to have a short-lived sketch comedy show on Fox in its early years. I loved the show, watched it all the time. He is extremely talented, and it bums me out to see that he's opted for the stupid-comedy route. Though he's likely taking his stupid-comedy ride all the way to the bank. There is a DVD of the Ben Stiller Show, and I would definitely recommend renting it when you're in the mood for a good laugh.
