1. I slept 15 hours today, including 2 naps. |
|
Tomorrow I might have insomnia.
Other than always being tired, my actual sleep cycle isn't much of a cycle. It's pretty damned irregular at this point.

180 job applications, 2 interviews will do that though.
I'm hoping that if I finally get a real job again that I'll be able to stop worrying about eating my savings and that will relax me enough to sleep well.

11. I can sleep 24+ hours in a row unassisted. |
|
I work nights, and usually during my workweek can manage about 6-7 hours on an average day.
Then my first night off comes up, and I sleep. And sleep.
I usually go to bed about 10 AM on my day off and wake up sometime the next morning.

usually i'm a general 8 hour sleeper, but the humidity lately has been killing that, now i sleep about 10 hours a day.
also, yesterday i took an amtrak overnight to my hometown, and it was incredibly cold on board, and apparantly, if you ride in coach, you have to pay for a blanket.
so i didn't get much sleep, but hopefully i can make up for lost time some how.

Delayed onset sleep cycle. That means insomnia till 2 or 3 am, then sleep till 1 or 2 pm.
Eight hours is definitely not enough.
Have taken medication to sleep but what they give me isn't strong enough -- I've taken quite a few varieties.

23. If you want to reset your sleep cycle, try melatonin, recommended to people who cross time zones. |
|
My doctor recommended it to me when I couldn't sleep and I gave it to my mother when she visited Australia and New Zealand and spent 24 hours on a plane. It's worked for me, and you can find it in any store that sells vitamins. My doctor said I could take up to 10 mg a night. Me, I sleep about 9 hours to feel okay. :-)

36. why were you trying lower pressure than recommended? |
|
I am at 13! But I am highly motivated. 40+ years of not sleeping right and the last 10 of really suffering made me fight to get on therapy. I don't even like to lie down to read without it. The only thing I miss is camping. Haven't got around to putting togeter a solar/battery set up.

40. I wonder if I still have events at night |
|
Despite what the study said. Because I still wake up at least 2-3 times, and my brain feels kind of weird when I wake up. It was originally set at 11 and was reduced to 9 to see if the pressure was waking me up. So I reduced a bit more as an experiment. I could try 11 again.

out pressure vs. perfection. If it doesn't seem to bother you I would go with whatever they say or the higher. Lower would probably allow more "choking" I would think.
Have you tried different masks? I want to try some others but my budget is limited and mine works so I may ask Santa at xmas for a new one

I used to "sleep" all the time (and would be up 6 to 10 times a night to go to the bathroom)and then still fall asleep all during the day. I also snored since I was a kid.
Now I sleep 7 to 8 hours straight through the night and occasionally nap during hot afternoons for 30 to 60 minutes. CPAP!

I don't have any and waited a long time before finally getting included in a study and part of the bennies were I got a used CPAP machine at the end. It was almost 9 months of suffering because I ended up being in a placebo group but the first night they put me on real pressure...WOW - I knew what I had been missing for MY ENTIRE LIFE!

free running clock. it kept him from finishing high school. at 22, he has managed to smooth it out enough to stay a day person, and go to college. but he has to be very disciplined to staying on schedule. melatonin helps him. me, i have fibromyalgia, which may or may not be sleep related. but 12 hour nights are not uncommon for me. i'm a little influenced by the seasons, so i like summer, when i tend to get another hour or 2 out of a day. makes a big difference. DH has apnea, but refuses a cpap, a bed wedge helps him a LOT. gets it down to very mild disturbance. he may be repeating his study, soon. baby (age 15) has been struggling with teen sleep shift, coupled with school induced clock shock. pisses me off that schools care more about the stupid puritan work ethic than the sanity of their students. high school should start at noon. that is just a fact.
