A skunk just sprayed near my house

smell like killer pot. Not an offensive odor to me.

You must have nicer skunks than around here. I love the smell of pot. Opening a certain box in my room releases the best odor ever.....which is what I might do to override the skunk.

...years ago when I first moved out here to the hinterland.

Turned out a skunk had sprayed under the house onto a heating vent. To my credit, most of the firefighters also thought it was an electrical fire starting somewhere, until the grand old fart firefighter showed up and showed us all what had happened. :)

Always reminds me of driving on country roads, maybe in the late Fall, windows down, but getting too cool to keep them down.
