I DARE you to use a semi-colon properly!!!!!
OK, so, enough with serial commas (for now), let's see if any one out there can properly use a semi-colon!

then, after you reply, I invite anyone to laugh, jeer, or maybe even congratulate those that are capable and not so s-c capable.

finally, if you are at a loss, go to your local library and check out a book on punctuation today!!!

Edit to add. If you are using one of the following words, you need to have a semicolon preceeding the word: however, therefore, hence, thus, consequently, nevertheless, moreover and meanwhile.

Definitely better than the comma in that sentence.

17. I would ues a semi-colon correctly
; however, I do not choose to today.

On the other hand I challenge everyone to use to and too correctly. And there, their, and they're. And to not begin sentences with conjunctions. And to not end sentences with prepositions. (My wife got a birthday card with too women on the cover and the dialogue whent "Where's your birthday party at?" And the birthday girl said "Don't end sentences with prepositions." And her friend says "Where's your birthday party at, BITCH."

BTW no spelling or grammer errors have been harmed in the writing of this message.

i just thought that 'punctuation monday's' would be a swell idea.

no hard feelings?

38. When I finally get to NYC, I am going to do the following:
eat a tremendous meal at the Olive Garden and get my picture taken in front to show my DU buddies; breastfeed a child publically in Central Park even though I am a male; smoke a cigar in as conspicuous a place as possible while stroking my concealed weapon; and laugh heartily at the New Yorker Obama cover.

Let's not forget the semi-colon has two purposes; it might get sad if we do.

40. Sure. Here goes:
<?
switch(strtoupper($property)) {
    case 'NOINFERIORS': return
$this->folders[$name]['attributes']&LATT_NOINFERIORS;
    case 'NOSELECT': return
$this->folders[$name]['attributes']&LATT_NOSELECT;
    case 'MARKED': return
$this->folders[$name]['attributes']&LATT_MARKED;
    case 'UNMARKED': return
$this->folders[$name]['attributes']&LATT_UNMARKED;
    case 'REFERRAL': return
$this->folders[$name]['attributes']&LATT_REFERRAL;
    case 'HASCHILDREN': return
$this->folders[$name]['attributes']&LATT_HASCHILDREN;
    case 'HASNOCHILDREN': return
$this->folders[$name]['attributes']&LATT_HASNOCHILDREN;
}
?>

This is proper use of a semi-colon in it's line terminator
functionality.

;)

If the person really said it then use quotes

,During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet,

If the person didn't really say it then use semi-colons
