Jessica Simpson BOOED at her first "country crossover" concert: "It's crap. She doesn't belong here"
Jessica Simpson booed at first country concert

http://thesuperficial.com/2008/07/jessica_simpson_booed_at_first.php

Jessica Simpson is attempting to crossover into country music, and apparently, it's not as easy as singing about your truck and beating your wife. Who knew? She gave her first "country" performance in Wisconsin and somehow escaped without getting a bottle of Bud jabbed in her eye. Kenosha News reports:

Many audience members found her attempt to crossover into country irritating and that her vocals lacked a southern sound.
"I just don't hear the country in her; I don't hear the twang. She's not good enough to be here," said Adam Matos, 21, from Arlington Heights, Ill.
One man summed her performance up in a single word.
"It's crap," said Ryan Sia, 28, from East Troy. "She doesn't belong here."

But Jessica Simpson tried her best to win the tough crowd over by making one of her trademark retard statements:

"I don't know what your perception is of Jessica Simpson or what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that I'm just a girl from Texas; I'm just like you. I'm doing what I love and dating a boy," Simpson said.

Note to Jessica Simpson: Probably not a good idea to tell a crowd full of roughnecks you're just like them because you're dating a boy. These guys like to keep that shit on the down low, if you know what I mean. (Read: I'm going to get my ass beat the next time I'm in Wisconsin. And I already bought tickets for the Curd Convention. Goddammit...)

1. She looks like her place is in front of a brothel.

Singing depressing country music while looking like a prostitute isn't a good mix, but I'll give her credit for TRYING different music genres.

Trouble is, if you get into the industry by being cheap and sleazy, that's all you're going to be remembered for - regardless of how much genuine talent you may have.

On edit: Okay, peoples' perceptions can change and be more forgiving over time. But for her, it's going to take lots of it. Peoples' minds aren't all that simple...

6. She should just...
...do like hundreds of other country stars before her have done:

1. Get good songs.

2. Sing 'em good.

That's it. That's the minimum country fans require. The first one takes a fair amount of work. She may have trouble with the second one.

8. All you need are tits, ProTools, and enough bribes to get on the radio.
Well, screwing somebody powerful, like a well-known producer, a big star or somebody with pull at her label wouldn't hurt, either. Derivative, annoying or just plain stupid songs are in no way an obstacle to radio play, nor is marginal singing ability.

She could probably get away with doing her live shows lipsynching to her "backing track" if her sister hadn't managed to screw even that up. As is her best bet would be to limit her live appearances to award shows, etc, because the pros already know she can't sing (or act, or talk, or think) for shit, and that the Jessica Simpson show is all about what's in her shirt, and as long as it makes them money most of them won't give a flying fuck.

So no, her complete lack of talent is in no way an obstacle to a career in country music. But usually the career path, at least for women, is to shimmy one's no talent ass out of the country ghetto at the first opportunity, not into it.

10. Country has become the Christian Rock of Pop "Stars".
It's the retreat of no talent hacks that aren't talented enough to make it in Pop (which really says a lot about how bad they must be).

13. That could honestly be said of almost all comtemporary female country stars.
And, most male stars too.

The only difference between modern Country and Pop is a little more instrumental music and a few allusions to "down home" bullshit.

15. She really is nothing more than a hot body.
Her singing is horrible, her dancing is worse.

There is honestly no reason for her or her sister to be famous. There are a lot more talented and more attractive performers out there.
